Armani Moore working with 1st team today at practice in place

We need a change but that wouldn't be my first option . Barton has been hot garbage the last few games , why not start Thompson? Moore makes more sense at the 4 . I like his energy and defense but he has problems scoring . We don't need anymore problems scoring. Then again Richardson hasn't given us much offensively either

This sounds like a really stupid move. Taking Barton out and putting in DT would be a good move. This just makes me wonder what the hell is Cuonzo doing even more

Well Counzo also had Darius at PG and AJ Davis at the 4. I was posting the Armani at 1st tea from the stand point of he can't get in the rotation against NC State with Tennessee playing that bad of offense and defense, and now he may start. :loco: It's like Counzo tinkers with lineups, rotations and using to many players in the non conference and thinks he has enough time to figure it out and still make the NCAA tourney every year.

Yeah, but what's funny is that you never really know when he's out on the floor.

Yeah, he definitely is the definition of blending in. But, he never makes the mistakes that stick out like a sore thumb and get you beat. He's definitely not the problem.

and moore got zero minutes last game. I feel bad for jrich. He's a slasher that isn't given the opportunity and spacing to attack the rim. Kid could get to the ft line a lot and shoot over 70%. He can go left, right and stop for a little midrange. The 3 ball is just added but has taken away from what he is as a player. Him running the wing on a fast break, then on the ball on a pressing team would get him involved in games and accentuate his talent, rather than hold it back and end up in a benching. He's basically not the josh richardson we all have seen and need and who's fault is that?

ccm?

Not that I don't like J Rich, but his missed dunk against Memphis last year cost us that game and the air balled freethrows at rupp last year screwed us outta that game. He makes very little mistakes I just wanted to point out those 2 stuck out like sore thumbs

The team needs to spend less time with Stokes and Maymon on the floor together. Bottom line. It limits your offense when you have two players on the floor together that can't score from outside 10ft and neither plays above the rim. All they do is clog the lane with both their defenders being in the paint almost the entire possession. No room for drives to the basket. Results=too many jacked up 3's. And defensively neither one of them can alter shots around the rim. Its not ideal but with our current roster our best option is to play more 4-guard lineups and speed the game up.

I have never been a fan of Josh Richardson, not sure what he really bring to the party, but if this move occurs it just adds evidence to the fact that Martin has no clue, since Armani has ridden the pine about 95% of the year. Now all of a sudden he sees the light? Not!

I wasn't implying he was stain-free. Perhaps I should have been clearer. He doesn't ROUTINELY make stupid mistakes that stick out like a sore thumb, and rarely repeats the same mistakes.

I hardly ever find it fair to point to one specific mistake over the span of a 40 minute game as one that cost our team a win. At UK last year, his two missed FTs had much less impact on the final outcome than our team defense that allowed UK to shoot 50% from the field.

I feel I am piling on but I just watched that hallway 5 minute interview with CM and I have never heard such mishmash in my life. First softball questions but the answers have me scratching my head. Someone watch it and tell me if I am off my rocker and am biased because I feel he is incompetent. I'll hang up and listen.

Every interview sounds the same. Doesn't matter I we win, lose, practice report, etc... they all sound exactly the same.

Where was this posted, haven't seen anything on it? Is it possible josh was injured and out of practice?

Just a couple questions, because all I've seen is Martin saying that the lineup likely won't change and then this, so just curious.

Vol Hoops Central shows no changes in the line up.
If Moore sees more time it won't be over Josh.
That would be asinine.

See this is my thought as well, and of course now you've got people in here, "OMG he's so desperate, what an idiot, these guys are clueless".

It hasn't been verified that he did indeed play over josh, hasn't been said if Josh was possibly injured....it's possible he got 1st team reps just to get him more looks but still comes off the bench.

Moore should be the first off the bench, but this team has other issues like someone stepping up and making a shot (besides Jordie Mac).

Wasn't our run last year started with the insertion of Armani into the starting lineup?

Earlier in the year I paid close attention to our production with Armani on the court. Much more effective from what I saw. We will see I guess.

Isn't that line up from Friday, or is there one I'm missing that gets updated more often?

It was, but for Kenny Hall and not Josh Richardson.

I still don't know where this originated from, does anyone know? There's no link in the OP and I've seen nothing to verify this.

Really need to play them both (Barton & DT), whether starting or early into the game. Bottom line this team has to make shots and with precision. These two with Jordie Mack have to provide this. To me JRich has been a little disappointing. Expected him to be a consistent 12/7 guy with an occasional 16/8.

It was just a practice report from Randy Moore. They also had AJ Davis in at PF and Darius playing point. I posted the Armani playing with 1st team because it frustrated me that a guy who can't get any minutes in the NC State game to maybe provide a spark, yet is good enough to possibly start the next game. The coaching decisions puzzle me at times.

Ok, so as I thought, this isn't Armani starting for josh. It was Armani, AJ and darius all getting some more reps, which is definitely deserving.
