Nice article. It actually give me a little more confidence about the position we're now in.
First time I've seen Bo Pelini mentioned. I don't understand why Al Golden keeps getting mentioned so much all of the sudden.

Petrino is ALOT worse....

I laugh at my computer when anyone says the words "Petrino and Tennessee" in the same sentence.

Pentrino is cancer on football

Living with a big mouth, complaining woman makes a 25 yr old hot blond look pretty enticing...just saying:good!:

Wow, the author did say that. Shocking!

Not directly, the author said something like "Tennessee is the premier HC job opening of the year, unless Oregon's HC leaves." Something like that.

Honestly, from a recruiting stand point I agree with this. I love my Vols but Big O has had GREAT success over the last five years and the recruits out there have seen Oregon, Bama, and LSU be the big dogs over the last five years.

Not trolling on my Vols, thats just the way it is right now.

Patrino rigged a job hire for his under qualified sex kitten. He exposed UofA to multiple lawsuits by all applicants not hired (49). Poor decision making....what head was he thinking with? Don't want that guy to possibly exposes UT to anything that might result from his stupidity. He's a douche.

Patrino was fired bc of the legal issues; not bc of the sex kitten (he had a second brunette 'friend' in Little Rock). BTW, word around Arky was that the girls fiancé beat the living s**t out of him....not a cycle accident . Notice how bad he looked after wrecking his bike in a ditch ? She was supposedly on the motorcycle and didn't have a scratch!

what's wrong with Saban? He wins honestly...Petrino would be selling the soul not Saban.

I wouldn't bet on that. Saban has finished no. 1 in recruiting 4 of the last 5 years, per Rivals. The only coach in the last 12 years, which is as far back as Rivals goes, to match that, is Carroll. Carroll was no. 1 3 of 5 years from 2002 to 2006.

For which Carroll was put on probation. Get this...LA vs. Tuscaloosa. Hip hop and movie stars on the sideline vs. .... I don't know, Snake Stabler? Carroll... consummate nice guy ... Saban ... complete ahole.

Saban clean? PUH-LEEZ! :eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

They may not get busted, but bammer is as dirty as they get. NOBODY is no.1 4 times in 5 years. It's so far beyond the other top programs to be unbelievable.

I want Gruden but to kick Tressel to the curb is redonkulous!

Not sure if you're serious, but there's no way Tressel is a viable candidate. Our probation just got extended out to 2015. Tressel has NEVER run a clean program. He had sketchy practices at Youngstown State before he ever showed up at Ohio State. The guy made a conscious decision to allow players to continue playing even though he knew they were violating multiple NCAA rules. He deliberately lied to the NCAA. We just got hit with extended probation because an ex-assistant coach continued to lie to the NCAA years after he was no longer here. On top of that, Tressel never beat an SEC team, unless you count Arkansas with about 6 players that should have been suspended due to eligibility issues. Even then, it took catastrophically bad play by Arkansas in the last minutes of that game for him to sort of get a win. If we have another major violation while under probation, that puts us in repeat offender (ie. Death Penalty) territory. Not likely to get that penalty, but would probably see something similar to the Penn State scholarship restrictions. Tressel might possibly be one of the worst potential candidates, unless Bruce Pearl wants to try his hand at football.

If you read the article carefully...the author says that the Oregon job is a better job than the Tennessee job.

Right now, the Oregon position would be a more desirable opportunity, simply because Kelly has them absolutely stocked with talent, particularly on offense. It isn't often that coaches leave a situation like that.

Gruden or Strong....

END OF STORY

If your going to pick anyone else might as well rehire Dooley.

No Gruden, no Strong.

END OF STORY

If your (sic) going to pick someone with no experience building a college football program, might as well rehire Dooley.

You dont need experience to "build" what has been built for the past 100 years?

This is Tennessee......not Georgia State

Why would Bo Pelini leave Nebraska to take the UT job? Both are premiere programs with Nebraska being arguably more premiere than UT. I know nothing about Pelini or his situation, but at a cursory glance this would not seem to be a step up for him. Maybe UT has better facilities. Maybe a better fan base. Aside from a short stint at LSU, he seems to have no ties to the SEC. Maybe the SEC is a more attractive conference. But he could dominate the Big Ten with Nebraska more easily than he could dominate the SEC with UT. In fact, he seems to be doing just that.

Why would he leave Nebraska for UT?

Thank God you're not our AD and Hart is.

We do have 100 years of tradition BUT for the last 10 years we've been a horrid team that the top recruits won't even think about and our football program was a total disaster when CDD walked in the door and started working to turn things around.

Despite how much most of us on here love Tennessee there's actually more reasons for a good coach NOT to come to Tennessee than there are reasons to come to UT and start rebuilding us all over again.

Nobody is going to walk in the door at UT and instantly have us back in the SEC Championship game again.

VFL...GBO!!!

I agree driscokid, the Op is stupidly biased. Saban understands the value of working directly with in-state school coaches to DEVELOP player talent and encouraging their academic eligibility and worthiness. Then channeling those players into the UA. A value that UT coaches historically seem to not even be vaguely aware. To not want such a top to bottom quality coach like this is just out and out stupid.

I keep seeing Golden and Strong in these lists of names. Don't get me wrong Strong is a good coach in his conference, but can he get it done in the SEC. This also holds true to Golden. He hasn't done much with his time in Miami.

And Meyer was just a good coach at Utah and Miles was only good at Okie State. No way they could get it done in the SEC.

I'm willing to bet Tressel gets an offer , he is a proven BCS winner. And he's probably itching to coach again. But the sanctions might be a deterant for UT.

The fact that Coach Cuttys name is even on the list scares me and reminds me that the powers that be on the Hill could once again screw this up..... :loco:
