I keep seeing Golden and Strong in these lists of names. Don't get me wrong Strong is a good coach in his conference, but can he get it done in the SEC. This also holds true to Golden. He hasn't done much with his time in Miami.
Why would Bo Pelini leave Nebraska to take the UT job? Both are premiere programs with Nebraska being arguably more premiere than UT. I know nothing about Pelini or his situation, but at a cursory glance this would not seem to be a step up for him. Maybe UT has better facilities. Maybe a better fan base. Aside from a short stint at LSU, he seems to have no ties to the SEC. Maybe the SEC is a more attractive conference. But he could dominate the Big Ten with Nebraska more easily than he could dominate the SEC with UT. In fact, he seems to be doing just that.
Why would he leave Nebraska for UT?

1.) Gruden
2.) Patterson
3.) Strong
I don't know how anyone's list could look any different.
(that is ruling out Mora Jr and Stoops as likely candidates)
Anyone think Strong knows what kind of D it takes to win in the SEC? Yep. What about recruiting? Been there, done that.
The question is can he handle the pressure and bring in a good offensive mind.
Everyone thought Petrino was a freakin genius for building Louisville into a winner. Strong does it, and it's 'whatever.'
Listen, UT fans need to be ready to not get a Gruden. Look at Sumlin. Not exactly a sexy hire and he was passed over for Dools. But obviously you could see the potential. Hart is lot more in touch with the next up and comer.
Louisville could easily be at 3-7 right now, they barely squeaked out a win in five very close games against sub-par opponents, then they got exposed by being blown out against and awful 5-5 Syracuse team.
Do you really want to take that risk?
Not directly, the author said something like "Tennessee is the premier HC job opening of the year, unless Oregon's HC leaves." Something like that.
Honestly, from a recruiting stand point I agree with this. I love my Vols but Big O has had GREAT success over the last five years and the recruits out there have seen Oregon, Bama, and LSU be the big dogs over the last five years.
Not trolling on my Vols, thats just the way it is right now.[/QUOTe
This is a fact.... this is where we need to get back to
To follow up on this statement, I am amazed, on one level, at the success that Oregon has enjoyed lately. As long as you aren't on the receiving end, their offense is a thoroughly enjoyable, precision machine to watch, notwithstanding the exceptional job that Stanford did of slowing it down Saturday. No matter how well Kiffin recruits, I don't think he can catch the Ducks. And with all of the success USC achieved under Carroll, it would be poetic justice to see Kiffin get canned at his dream job.
I will take gundy and stoops. Anyone that isnt up to their record can stay way. Hell no to cutty and bobby P.Im hoping for stoops. Why would we wont mora.. he would be uclas kiffen right.I dont think he belongs in the sec he is a pac coach.
I agree with this. I would love to have Stoops but that might be a pipe dream but Gundy I believe, could be had. Word is he is not happy with T. Boone pretty much running the show.
Why so down on Strong? After Gruden or Stoops he would be a great hire.
