Article: Why Vols Won't Miss Tiny Richardson

Ehhh, that's a bit of a stretch. I can't take credit for it, but one of the posters on here mentioned that there is a reason Tiny started all year - the backups simply weren't as good. Whether or not the incoming freshmen/JUCO are better remains to be seen.

Yes, but they will have an extra year to get bigger, faster, and stronger while learning the system. Underclassmen that didn't start the previous year come in the next year after the upperclassmen have left and do better than them all the time. The value in an extra year of weight training and eating as much protein as you can, can not be understated.

Reminds me of the people that were glad Tyler Bray left so we could start over at QB. It's dumb.

UT does not have another LT on the roster right now and as far as I know no HS LT's committed. It is more than a bit troubling to put that amount of faith in a single JUCO who has never played a down in the SEC.

Wished Tiny was coming back, but if he is predicted as a high NFL pick then its the prudent choice.

You have to get playing time to prove your worth on the field. The O-line was full of multiple year returning starters so playing time was not available unless something crazy happened. There is no reason to believe the next guys can't produce at a level close to the existing guys when they get their shot at playing time.

I'm optimistic.

I just hope the guys behind our graduating line come in and produce. The o line is the biggest question mark for the 2014 season. The incoming line will definitely not be young but they will be inexperienced.

What do you propose? Like come on a JUCO is what you do for situations like that.

Haters gonna hate.

Just hope he was highly touted and recruited for a reason and dominates next year. Fingers crossed, black lights, incense, candles, you know the drill.

As long as they can run block a little I'm good. The 'Tiniest' window will do.

Sincerely,

I just don't think Charles in Charge will start as a true freshmen. IMO needs a year in S&C to lose bad weight and gain strength.

I bet a lot of these freshies coming in will start or will have alot of playing time.

I'm sorry, but saying we will not miss an upperclassmen who started 24 games and played in 36, is just dumb. I know he had his moments, but the experience is worth it's weight in gold.

Anyway, doesn't matter at this point, just time for someone else to step up!

NFL mock draft has him as #37 in the draft. Which is high in the 2nd round. Of course, that could change once other juniors announce that they will enter the draft early and he could move lower in the draft OR he could have a huge combine and move up to the mid 1st round or even sneak in the bottom of the 1st round.

D line is questionable also. So, is q.b. play...

Its prudent even if he is not a 1st round pick.

the new NFL rookie scale is to blame. you do not get a huge payday just for being drafted early. and the difference between 2nd round money and 6th round money is not really that huge. what is more important is getting in early so you can reach your second deal - so the sooner you come out the better.
you are going to see a whole lot more juniors coming out as time goes on.
