As much as people are complaining...

Jimmy Dykes said something during the game that really rings true after this win....we were a made jumper away from beating Georgetown. If that shot goes down whats the perception?

We are 9-2, RPI probably in the 20s and im guessing in the top 25.

Everyone can complain about it's boring, or how our offense sucks, but the fact is we are winning games this way, and are in every game (except Okie State)

Next season, we will lose Jordan Mc & McBee but we get a full season of experience with the other players and Maymon will return for his r/s senior season and Stokes will be on the roster to include the incoming freshmen.
Next season, should be a good season...

McRae will still be here. We lose McBee, Hall, and Dwight Miller.

McRae is only a Jr. Unless you think he'll leave early to go to Europe which I think he'd be stupid to do.

I jumped out of my seat when Yemi drew the late charge. I'm passionate regardless of style, I love defense....I loved the big plays by Richardson on defense in the second half, got me pumped.

Agreed. Yemi drawing the charge and Richardson on the drive late were both fist-pump moments, in addition to Reese's couple threes.

Is it frustrating to watch an offense not be able to score? Absolutely. But is it more frustrating than watching your team not be able to stop the other team? As a fan of Tennessee in both basketball and football, I say no.

I think Reese is a great addition to this team. He is very athletic for his size. Same for Richardson, he is by far the most improved player with Yemi coming in second. If Stokes played as hard as Yemi, he could be the beast we all expect. Winning this game with Golden and Stokes both being no shows is a positive.

Anyone upset with the job CCM had done so far, is an idiot.

Agree, however, if he does not get to the Big Dance this season, fair or not, he is probably on the hot seat next season. Good thing is he should be loaded with talent next year if Maymon comes back.

Judging from the intensity in the last couple minutes, I'd say Stokes reacted well.

He seemed into it on the bench, even while being benched lol. So I was happy to see that.

Golden on the other hand just didn't look like himself, seemed to not even be there tonight.

Worse game I can remember Golden having. He has games like he did against Wichita St and then when a team plays a zone he completely goes brain dead. He is lost.

Golden and Stokes only played 21 minutes each. If not for our bench, we would've lost. Lopez deserves more minutes and will get them against teams that play zone against us. His passing is much better than Golden's passing.

I don't care what you say. It happened tonight. Yemi and Reese were our big men. I was there and Stokes rode the bench.

Yemi got Stokes' minutes not Reese. Stokes starts at center and Hall is the 4, not the other way around.

Agree. Stokes responded well. Maybe he uses this as a catalyst to becoming a more vocal leader and demanding the ball come to him offensively. I would like to see CCM run more plays to isolate Stokes one on one where he takes his man off the dribble to the basket, especially when he has a bigger, less athletic man guarding him.

Richardson was the MVP today. I like his energy and how he plays the game. He was on Xavier's best player and played good defense and was the high scorer for UT. That's hard to do when you're the designated defensive stopper.

He honestly looked sick to me.

Wouldn't surprise me with some of this crap going around....

Would love to play with Richardson on my team. Does everything. Teams may begin to see how important he can be. Need to see him finish to his right and hit a few 3's, imo. If I am guarding him, I take away his left hand, which is where he likes to slash.

I don't get this. CCM has said multiple times they want him on the block, back to the basket...however, when he catches it 18 feet out faces up and goes one on one he usually scores. I'd also like to see him take 3-4 of those 18 foot jumpers a game.

He's a spark plug and he can slash. If we need a drive, it's him or McRae. He also crashes the boards and gets garbage baskets. He'll be a solid 4 year player by the time he is done.

I just wish we had Hubbs this year or Maymon. If Reese can contribute like he did tonight, we've got a chance to be pretty good. Stokes or Golden can't go MIA against the good teams though. If Golden can't figure out a zone, I'd play Lopez over him.

Agree. He is addicted to his left hand. Tonight however, he was the glue. By far the most improved player this season. I asked pre-season that he bring his offense to the level of his defense, and he is doing that.

He may be the best perimeter defender in the league, who's better?

He has shut down guys that play 1-4. He guarded their PG tonight who averages like 15 a game and held him without a fg til a minute left iirc.

He may be on the all defensive team this year, good for him.

I may be the only person but I really do not find defensive basketball boring at all. I have had more fun watching Coach Martin's teams than I have ever had watching any other UT basketball.

I've been loving it, to be honest. As long as we win without cheating or because of one really bad call for us, I'm happy. Plus, I like defense. Go Richardson! :p

It's interesting that he's right handed yet prefers to drive left. You don't see that often. He also makes those fade away midrange jumpers look easy. He's easily my favorite player on this team.

Really, when you break down his game he loves the pull up 15 footer. Shooting off the dribble is always easier with your off hand pulling up. Seems like a good adjustment he's made in his game over time to learn how to drive going left. That's usually one of a scout or coaches main gripe is a player playing to his dominant hand. Richardson is a fundamental player.
