(As predicted). GET WORLEY OUT

There was a group of fans sitting behind me that did nothing but trash Worley for over half the game. It's sickening.

Just read QB stats. It shows Murray as 19/35 (.543), 196 yds, 5.6 yd avg per catch, 3 TD, 0 Int, 84.7 QBR. For Worley, 17/31 (.548), 215 yds, 6.9 yd per catch, 1 TD, 0 Int, 49.1 QBR. Except for TDs, Worley's specs look better, but his QBR is much lower. Anybody know how that works, seems that something is not right about that, unless TDs count a whole lot more than anything else. Just wondered. Thanks.

Murray's run.

Eat Worley crow haters. Stop acting like you know about football and let Butch coach the team. I like to go back and read the moronic posts mid game

The whole "some guys shine on game day" mantra is overplayed imo. I don't believe many freshmen quarterbacks who dont get it in practice suddenly get it during live game action.

True. Some players seem to shine more in the game environment. But, when it is obvious that one player is far better than another, no good coach is going to roll the dice on a wing and a prayer that a true freshman is going to do any more than get us embarrassed vs the #6 team.

This whole mantra is a desperation act by childness and ignorant whiners on here who knee jerk by looking for a scapegoat at every failure. Glad we have a coach with a little sense and experience.

Should have asked them if they wanted some Cheese with that Whine.

Dude, they kept talking about fergie and dobbs, and were intentionally saying everything loudly to make sure everyone knew that they knew what they were talking about. They were seriously impressed with themselves

Alright, I'm man enough to say I was wrong! Worley settled in and kept us in this ball game! Great job Worley and great job team! It hurts, but it was a good game! Now I'll take off my orange Dooley pants and let Butch do the coaching!!

That's a really good post. :hi:

Losers. If Worley went on a Peyton Manning tear and won the freaking Heisman, these fools would obnoxiously be out in front of the bandwagon trash talking how he's the greatest in CFB history.

I wish there was a way to trade certain fans to Bama, where they would fit in better.

"The NCAA formula is: [ { (8.4 * yards) + (330 * touchdowns) - (200 * interceptions) + (100 * completions) } / attempts ].

In 1979, when the NCAA developed the passing efficiency formula, they used average statistics from the previous 14 seasons of two-platoon football (which started in 1965). "8.4" was chosen so that the average passer would have a rating for yards-per-attempt and completion percentage of exactly 100. 330 (3.3 times touchdown percentage) and 200 (2.0 times interception percentage) were chosen to cancel each other out for the average passer.

Passing statistics have improved since the '60s and '70s (in part due to more liberal use-of-hands rules for offensive linemen), to the point where a rating of 100.0 is not an "average" passer but rather a fairly poor one" (NCAA and NFL Passing Efficiency computation).

Note: This webpage allows you to plug the values of a quarterback's performance in and instantaneously determine his passer rating.

I don't follow recruiting until mid-January. Way too much time between now and NSD. These are high school kids we're talking about after all. I'll have my homework done by February.

You were telling Butch what he should do tho. The point is, you rarely if ever get a top flight QB when you walk into a program the first year. Especially when you come from a lower tier program where you've been courting lower tier QBs.

QB recruiting is done 2 or three years ahead of signing day (around the time you admittedly start paying attention). It's not common to walk in and use a Lane Kiffin snake oil approach to get one. Remember Lane got a QB comitted to SDSU to flip his first year.

The point is that when Butch stepped up to the big leagues, all the good QBs were / are 99% committed. Better off using his energy to get the lower hanging fruit at other positions, while getting in early for 15'-16' on the blue chip QBs.

To me, coaching to win doesnt mean playing a quarterback who yu dont believe is your best option.

That made a lot of sense until I realized that the "It Can't be Any Worse" philosophers are more qualified to pick starters than their head coach.

After all they have HD TVs and have watched almost all the plays in six games now. The fact that few if any have ever coached a game plan to success, have never even watched a single practice, have never questioned any of the four scholarship QBs personally about anything on or off field, and have no personal relationship with any of them ... is irrelevant.

There keyboard, broadband, and HD TV run circles around all that coaching noise.

You must have been sitting near me cause I sat in front of those same guys.. Idiots. For the most part the crowd was awesome. Worley turned the corner. He is our quarterback and I was proud of the way the team played.

Im not saying Worley is Peyton Manning, but he played his a$$ tonight and nearly beat the #6 team in the land. Ever since he relieved Peterman, he has looked more confident and in control. He is starting to keep the ball on some of these read options, too. That is huge for him to keep the defense guessing which way the ball will go. He looks like he is the qb for this year and possibly next, so we better get used to it. After all, no other uninjured qb has even taken a snap and probably wont at this point.
Go Vols

Our best hope for offense is if the D scores. Worley is not making big mistakes, but to say he doing good is an overstatement. He just does not have the ability to make big plays and get us back in the game. Hopefully next year we'll get to see if one of the freshman has that it factor.

I'm not even going to read anymore of this thread. I just wonder if people like this and the OP ever come back and say "I'm stupid, I was wrong!"

Man up? Really?

I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but if this was my board and you were as condescending to me as you are to Freak, your ass would be gone.
My apologies to you, Freak, and anyone offended by my post- out of character for me. I must give Worley his due- he played well, as did the whole team. I am proud to be a Vol Fan.

A very nice gesture, but you don't need to apologize to me just because we may disagree. The point here is to discuss. :hi:

Sitting in the stands at the Georgia game and watching the whole field gave me a different perspective on Worley.

Brendon Downs gave up on a route that made Worley Look bad. North drop a perfectly thrown pass. Worley was about to get sacked and through to the closest receiver that was double covered. He through it in the ground to avoid the sack and from being intercepted.

He has progressed and the whole offense was progressed. They actually looked like 95% they were in sync. The time and execution on offense has greatly improved.

We scored 34 points in the game on 10. Not time to change QBs.

We need the guy who came out in the second half and played some football. He proved he can do the job he just has to do it for an entire game.
