As they are saying on UK's Site...

The one thing you can blame Calipari for is this: Letting his teams shoot 32 three's. That is inexcuseable. Reminds me a lot of when we shot 33 of them against Okie St. last year.

Was at the game, that was horrendous.

This may be slightly random, but I just visited catpause and I just want to give a thank you to Freak and whoever else set up this site like they did. It is easily the cleanest and easy to navigate team message board that I have been to.

I just said all year long that Kentucky was too young, too inexperienced, and too immature to win a National Championship. And I was right. Did Calipari make some sucky coaching mistakes? Yes. But....when you're 0-20 in 3 point land and you know you have some of the best athletes and can drive...why do you keep taking them? Kentucky shot like 12% from 3 point tonight. That's not coaching, that's on bad decisions from players and just going cold.

I'm just saying that players like Chism and Prince who have now been to 3+ tournaments know what it takes to win, and having that 3 years of not getting there (the 8) is a lot of what fueled the fire last night, and what will fuel it tomorrow. One and done players don't have that kind of fuel. Most times they know they're one and done, they're there to try to make a name for themselves, get their millions, and well, if they win a championship in the process, so be it. Whereas, these other guys...the tournament may be it for them. Bobby Maze may never play a NBA game, this might be his last. (I hope this is not the case, Bobby has been one of my favorite players this year.)

But one 1/2 and done player every few years is great for a program. Imagine how much easier things would be if Scotty played his potential last year or this year. There are advantages and disadvantages to one and dones....but honestly, I'd rather have a team of 10 guys who were overlooked and fighting for UT bleeding orange, then a guy who I know is gone after the end of the season.

Maybe nobody agrees with me, but that's just my opinion.

I have to admit I do have a hard time cheering for UK when they are playing, but I was prepared to do it if we got bounced.

Maybe this makes me less of a fan or something....but I'm mainly glad that UK lost simply because I didn't want to play a team that we play every single year in the National Championship. UK is a dangerous team, and had a very good chance of beating us, and has seen us now 3 times this year. I just didn't like that matchup. I think we could have had a chance, but UK was honestly the last people I wanted to play.

I am currently in Lexington, KY, my fiancee's family are all huge UK fans, and I like UK, I respect their program, and I will admit that they had the most overall talented team in the NCAA this year. (Hate their coach by the way, he's gotta get caught one of these days). I was going to cheer for them if we got out. But as a Vol fan, my number one priority is wanting the best for my Vols, and in this case, that meant cheering against Kentucky. Not out of hatred for them, but out of respect, because I know they were the most dangerous team in the tournament, and they would have a good gameplan for us.

Michigan State...Butler...and then either West Virginia/Duke or Baylor. That's the road that remains. Good luck Vols. It just gets tougher from here.

Maybe KY will sell their Final 4 tickets to raise money to help Cal pay off his Memphis bonuses they are asking him to pay back. I can't help but respect KY BB and their fans but not Cal. At SEC tourney sat next to KY fan who had been going to games for over 50 years and he much preferred Bruce as coach but was resigned to living with what they have for time being.

Cats lost. Too bad!!!!LOL The better TEAM won last night not the most TALENTED team. He can not coach and never has. Always had talent but talent gets you there but no guarantees.

Are they talking about the refs calling a bad game on there? The two calls went against West Va on the over and back calls were bad. Plus Kentucky had a SEC official calling their game, Teddy Valentine. Kentucky had more talent than anyone. They lost because Cal got out coached just like he did at Memphis. His style was to stay outside the 1-3-1 zone and shoot. And they went 0-19 to start from 3 point land think you might get the ball inside to Cousins and Patterson.

You know Bruce Pearl is doing a great job when KY fans say they will root for Duke over Tennessee!

Those sound pretty rational. I prefer the 'sky is falling' kind.
There is nothing rational about excusing a COACH for allowing his team to be so out of control during a game that they take and miss 20 threes. A good coach will recognize that and change strategies.

In the end, I find both sorts of fans amusing. :)

We have plenty of them here too.

Nah, I like this better:

I agree. I thought the wishbone had been outlawed when we couldn't defend against it all those years. I also think we would be more competitive at baseball if it were t-ball, take the pitching out of the game.

Yeah, Kentucky took 32 threes last night, and in a related story, the leopard was yet again unsuccessful in trying to change his spots. 32 attempts may have been a high water mark for the season, but that's their game, dribble-drive-dish to the spot up shooters. They didn't start from day one running their offense through Cousins and Patterson down low, who thought they'd change up last night? The DDD offense is Cal's bread and butter, but IMO, he didn't have the right talent for it this year. Cousins could be unstoppable down on the blocks, admittedly, when he has his head on straight. What few of their games I saw this year, they didn't have anyone who you feared on the perimeter. They have several that could get hot in a given game or two, but nobody reliable like a Dale Ellis, Allan Houston, Jamal Mashburn, Travis Ford, et al. And to counter someone's assertion that you have to have NBA caliber talent to win, I disagree. It doesn't hurt, but I'll take the mentally tough team that plays smart and together, one that also knows how to play a little D. That's why it bothers me that those punk a$$ beyatches from Durham may steal this one.

Wow. I guess when you have a team full of one-and-dones to the NBA, it's only natural to want NBA rules.
