'Who shot Ashli Babbitt?' Trump demands answers on Capitol riot shooting death of MAGA supporter

Donald Trump has demanded to know who was responsible for shooting and killing Ashli Babitt at the Capitol on January 6.

'Who shot Ashli Babbitt?' Trump put simply in a statement on Thursday after Nancy Pelosi announced the makeup of the select committee to look into the Capitol Riot.

The identity of the officer who shot and killed Babbitt has been shielded from the public despite multiple demands and the threat of a lawsuit from her family.

PIERS MORGAN: I know who killed Capitol Hill rioter Ashli Babbitt but you don’t, and neither does her family – and whether you think she’s a traitor or a patriot, that is a Shameful Failure of public transparency and Justice.

The identity of the Capitol Police officer who shot the MAGA rioter on camera on January 6 has remained one of the most closely guarded secrets in America.

But I know who it is.

I know his name, his age, his rank, his family status and his service record.

I know all this because DailyMail.com journalists did their job and found out, as I am sure have journalists from other news organizations.

Although I’m equally sure that many prestigious left-leaning news organizations - who ought to know better - have probably not even bothered.

Nobody has reported the information yet because there has been enormous pressure put on the media from the Capitol Police and the officer’s legal team not to do so for fear it would endanger his life.

But given the scale of global attention this shooting attracted, and the overwhelming public interest in the dreadful events of January 6, how tenable is this ongoing wall of silence?

Particularly as the National Commission into the riot is coming soon.

It seems increasingly outrageous to me that you, the public, have no idea who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt.

Capitol Police are Being Stationed Around the United States, Beginning with California and Florida

"Democrats and Republicans in Congress have called for an overhaul of law enforcement practices following the police killing of George Floyd, but those same lawmakers who want accountability and transparency nationwide aren’t taking a stance on whether their own department, the Capitol Police, should be subject to the Freedom of Information Act,” the report said. “As a part of the legislative branch, the department remains exempt from the law.”

“Despite the public outcry for more transparency, none of the lawmakers who serve on committees whose jurisdiction includes the Capitol Police said the force charged with protecting and securing Congress should be subject to the 1966 Freedom of Information Act that requires federal agencies to disclose a large amount of government information to the public,” the report added.

“Congress is not subject to the law, and the Capitol Police, as a component of the legislative branch, is also exempt from any FOIA request,” it added.

Marjorie Taylor Greene compares Shooting of Ashli Babbitt to George Floyd's murder and says she is treated like a Nazi on social media

  • 'If this country can demand justice for someone like George Floyd, then we can certainly demand justice for Ashli Babbitt,' she said during a Newsmax interview
Marjorie Taylor Greene compared the police killings of George Floyd and Ashli Babbitt on Wednesday and said she's treated like a 'Nazi' on social media.

'If this country can demand justice for someone like George Floyd, then we can certainly demand justice for Ashli Babbitt and everyone deserves to know who killed her,' Greene told Newsmax in an interview Wednesday.

She demanded: 'We need to know who it is.'

Babbitt was a military veteran who Greene described as 'a passionate patriot,' while she said Floyd was a black man with a criminal record.

Babbitt was shot and killed by a Capitol Police officer during the January 6 Capitol attack as she joined a group of rioters trying to breach a congressional chamber. The identity of the officer who shot her has still not been released.

'The crowd was unbelievable': Trump praises Capitol rioters as 'patriots' who showed 'spirit and faith and love' during insurrection and Slams Police Shooting of 'innocent, wonderful' Ashli Babbitt

Donald Trump praised his supporters who stormed the US Capitol on January 6 as 'peaceful', 'patriots' and 'great people' while condemning the fatal police shooting of 'innocent, wonderful' Ashli Babbitt.

The former president fondly remembered the Capitol insurrection during an appearance on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures, where he said the MAGA fans who gathered that morning to hear him speak before marching on Congress were filled with 'faith and spirit and love'.

However he acknowledged one of the five deaths linked to the riots - that of Babbitt, a former Air Force veteran who was shot dead by an unnamed Capitol Police officer as she tried to climb through a broken door leading to the House Speaker's Lobby.

Trump hinted that 'the head of security for...a Democrat' may have been responsible for Babbitt's shooting, though he offered no evidence to support the claim.

Weird how they support LEO's until one of theirs is gunned down.

I don't really have much of an opinion on any of this, but I'd be willing to bet a lot these people calling for this officer to be doxed would be incensed at the idea of doxing a cop who killed an ANTIFA protester under identical circumstances.

“The person that shot Ashli Babbitt—boom, right through the head,” he told the crowd. “Just, boom. There was no reason for that. And why isn’t that person being opened up, and why isn’t that being studied? They’ve already written it off. They said that case is closed. If that were the opposite, that case would be going on for years and years, and it would not be pretty.”

WHO KILLED ASHLI BABBITT?
https://gosar.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=4456#
PRESCOTT, AZ - Representative Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) issued the following statement in remembrance of Ashli Babbitt, who was killed in the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.

“Six months ago today, Ashli Babbitt, a 110-pound woman with nothing in her hands, not a rock, not a stick or a bat, was shot dead by a still unknown Capitol Hill police officer. Her death has been ruled a homicide. Yet, we have very little information about her death. Our fake news media has asked no questions or sought information about this tragedy. So, I have. And now President Trump has joined me in seeking the truth.

In many instances, when a law enforcement officer kills an individual for any reason, that officer’s name is publicly released. There is then an investigation and the public is given updates, briefings and ultimately a copy of the investigation. But not in the case of Ashli Babbitt. Instead, there is a determined effort to cover up the full circumstances of this homicide and the American people won’t stand for it.

Why won’t the Department of Justice identify the shooter? Why won’t the Department of Justice release the nearly 14,000 hours of surveillance video taken on January 6? I have asked for this for months. Why haven’t the SWAT team members standing by Ashli at the moment of her murder been interrogated and their statements released? They were right next to her and saw no threat. Certainly, no lethal threat. Why were there no warnings given or escalation of command and force in proper law enforcement technique? Why have no charges been brought against the shooter for negligent homicide or more?

Perhaps, but I would also wager a lot that if an officer had killed an unarmed ANTIFA supporter in a similar fashion he would be awaiting trial right now.

I also find it ironic the most vocal in decrying local police "circling the wagons" to protect their own are silent on this case.

I don't think she was innocent but the force used was excessive. I won't call him a murderer as some here have though.

Cities have burned recently for such.

What did she do to warrant deadly force? If your answer is nothing, then it was murder. I'd guess one would have to advocate that criminal trespassing warrants deadly force. The castle law which covers your own property gives you a lot of freedom to use deadly force. However, if someone had video evidence of me shooting an unarmed person I will likely do jail time.

She should have just complied. Period. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. She could have had a knife in her pocket. Or maybe she was reaching for what the officer thought was a weapon?

Believe what you want, the worst she did was criminal trespassing. I'm not aware of that crime warranting deadly force. The statement about playing stupid games win stupid prizes does not give any law enforcement the right to use blanket deadly force.

I think forcefully entering the capital building during a joint session of congress is a bit of a step above criminal trespassing.
