Atheists "Hijack" Nativity in Santa Monica

Oh, so that matters? Tell everyone to evacuate LA. Turns out those people aren't angels. I repeat, they are NOT angels!

So the Christmas display up for a couple months bothers him/you but not the Address he lives at. Makes sense.

His complaint was that Nativity displays give the impression that Santa Monica is a "Christian city." I would think he'd have much more problem with the city being named after a Christian saint.

You are right; Santa Monica was established as a Christian City. As you defend it, you should embrace the form of Christianity that was extended to those in Santa Monica (you know, those peace-loving Jesuits...)

Not sure if serious.

He's serious. "Separation of Church and State" does not appear in the constitution. The constitution states that "congress shall make no law regarding the establishment of religion...." but it has somehow turned into "separation of church and state" in every level of government, in every form.

I agree with the notion of separation of church and state, but I find the federal government's extremely broad interpretation of the first amendment troubling.

I didn't "defend" anything. My point is that if "impressions" are such a big deal, I don't see why the guy isn't bothered by the city's name.

What the **** is the point of atheist campaigns? I honestly don't see any point other than just trying to piss people off.

Don't Christians already possess tax-free land upon which they can do whatever they want?

Christmas, for Christians, is the celebration of the incarnation of a God who will only accept those who believe in him; the holiday itself, at its foundation, is one of at best passive-aggression to anyone and everyone who does not share the same beliefs.

What do you mean by "accept".

I wonder the same thing when Christians send out mass emails instructing me to boycott certain corporations because said corporations wish individuals "Happy Holidays" instead of a "Merry Christmas".

I find it hilarious a descriptor like "atheist" is even used.

Like God, I don't believe in astrology either. Why isn't there a special word for me regarding that as well?

There is a stigma attached to the word, so your every day use of it lops me in with the yahoos in the article. It is what it is, I'm not going to complain and play the "oppressed" card, I will leave that to the religious crowd.

Playing the age card without knowing the age. Arrogant AND stupid!

THIS is an exerpt that was taken from your post from a thread titled "Hank Jr compares Obama to Hilter" wayyy back on 10/05/2011.

"I see most of what I said flew over your thick skull. I'll make it real easy for you.

1) The point was that if a young, regular dude like myself was able to meet numerous musicians that displayed more instrumental talent than your rhinestone god ever has (on multiple occasions, nonetheless), then it might be a good indicator that Junior's not all you're making him out to be."

I guess Forrest was right, "Stupid is as Stupid does" ....Dude.

I don't know about that ****.

But as far as pushing a belief, at least Christians claim there's something to lose if you don't convert to their way of thinking. What of atheists? Seems like nothing more than purely wanting to be a pain in the ass.

So if atheists said you go to hell if you don't believe their teachings, then they'd have more validity?
