Actually during the 18 inning game with the Pirates, the Braves announcers said Conrad was the emergency catcher.

If there's somebody on the roster that already qualifies as an emergency catcher, however tenuously, then it would be idiocy to put Boscan on the postseason roster.

That would definitely seem to be the most glaring weakness. Lugo and Conrad as utility men is pretty weak.

I agree. My skin crawls thinking about Conrad playing in the field during the playoffs, God forbid something happened.

I like that we have so many guys that can give good contributions in the field right now. We can have a very well rested and fresh team going into the postseason this year. If only our pitching could get healthy.

Chip goes yard! He's been smashing the ball lately. He might just be turning it on for the right part of the year.

I fully stand by my "If McCann doesn't get hurt, he's your NL MVP" statement.

A few things:

Mac is back.

Jason is looking much better the last two weeks.

If Chip keeps hitting like this to the playoffs, our chances go up greatly of doing damage.

Lowe has an ERA at about 3.30 in the last five starts.

JJ is not healthy. This hurts greatly.

I heart Craig Kimbrel

Lucky for us Huddy is as good as he's been all year. That takes some sting away from the JJ injury.

Yeah, Chipper's swing is ridiculous right now. He hit an opposite-field HR last night by just throwing his hands at the ball and attacking it. Not a violent swing at all, and it jumped off his bat and landed some 409 feet later.

Chipper's Sept. 1 HR:

I'd love to see him have a great run through the playoffs for obvious reasons, but I think it would also help solidify his career. Going from near retirement to hopefully a strong playoff run, good on him.

Then again, he's one ground ball or sprint to first from being on the DL judging from the way things have gone the last several years.

JJ has been garbage for a long while now. If we can get Lowe pitching great we should be fine. Hudson, Beachy, Hansen if healthy should be good enough. Whoever it was that said we need to trade JJ because of his agent, & because the first part of his year was extraordinary was dead on. I agree!!

Those were my sentiments back in the spring. One, he's a Boras client, and two, he's more of a third starter than an ace, which won't stop Boras from looking for an ace contract. I don't think his trade value has been damaged by his last few starts (blame it on the knee) so I'd still try to move him this off-season, selling high on his first half performance.

Diaz, Constanza, Hinske, Ross, Conrad, and now Wilson. Heck of a bench for a postseason. im impressed

Man.. not so sure Constanza is gonna be on the bench chief.. see old adage "speed never slumps but jason Heyward does" however J Hey is making adjustments and improving of late. He will be what we thought he was in due time.

The only reason that Boscan would make the post season roster would be so Ross (righty) can pinch hit, however with the recent addition of Matty D, he will serve as our first righty to hit a lefty in a pinch come post season.. So do not expect to see Boscan anywhere near a Braves uni this post season.. but crazier thing have happened

Very nice comeback late against a very tough pitcher today. I'm excited about this next series. We'll get a little better idea of where the team stands, although we only see one of the big 3.
