If I were Frank Wren, I think I'd tell Greg Walker not to bother getting on the plane to Houston. Hitting coaches are a dime a dozen for a reason; whatever this guy's yelling at them ain't working.

It's also worth taking all those fawning Dave O'Brien stories about how having Chipper on the team is like having an extra batting coach around with a giant grain of salt, isn't it?

Chipper will be on the bench ~60 games this year so might as well let him have influence.

It's beyond ridiculous. They look as anemic as any group I've seen in Atlanta since the late 80s.

Would you rather have fredi or francona? Just a random thought

I'd rather have a random Strat-O-Matic player than Fredi, but this isn't his fault. It's only three games, but this lineup is what you get when you build a team around what you hope could go right rather than what you expect could go wrong.

How much of that is Wren and how much of that is Liberty Media we probably have no way of knowing.

All we read all spring were stories about how involved Chipper was with the other hitters, how he claimed to have fixed Heyward's swing, etc etc. If this is what we get when Chipper's involved in anybody else's swing but his own, then no thanks.

Exactly, if this is any sign of what Chipper can do with them, then no thanks.

Can't believe how badly the Mets have screwed this up. They've put this game at risk because they were chasing the no-hitter. They needed to have somebody ready to go as soon as Nieves gave up the first hit.
