How did he slip thru the cracks and go undrafted? On top of that he was obviously a stud 3rd baseman. Weird.

No clue.. He's been impressive from his debut in Philly two years ago. Lot of confidence. He went to indiana Wesleyan I think. I'm guessing he didn't get any attention

Whoever unearthed him needs a serious raise. He has been dominate since becoming a pro. He made a damn mockery of the minor leagues, pitching at 4 levels in one season.. SMH. That ain't even right

Wood was 21. Beachy is 25. Big difference.

The only way I'd let a 21 year old throw 120 pitches is if the pennant was on the line and I hated everyone in the bullpen.

That's true. He's still early in his career and that's a lot more than he's ever gone before. It's 7-0.. What's the point? The ironic thing is if it were a close game, he would have taken the guy who was dominating out.

It's also a huge milestone in a guy's career, the game wasn't in any doubt, and 25 is when you stop worrying quite so much about ruining a guy's arm. I would have sent him back out there and told him that even one baserunner and I was going to come get him.

The point is the confidence he gets from it, and the early season pressure to finish it off.

...and Beachy wasn't wrecking his elbow by snapping off 40-50 insane curveballs.

McCann nailed it in the post game show. It's not pitch count as much as it is stressful pitches. And Beachy had zero 3-ball counts tonight.

This is a really good point as well. I didn't see the first 7 innings so I don't know how many curves he threw or how many high pressure situations he was in. Stressful pitches contribute to fatigue..doesn't necessarily have anything to do with arm trouble.

Of course I go to work and miss the game.

**** you adulthood.

I spent an hour today on the phone trying to figure out why they raised my homeowner's insurance, discovered some termite damage in my basement, and had to clean my little girl's shat off the floor after she tried to change her own diaper. I don't want to hear it. You're still in the mindlessly fun part.

I can relate to this life.

Ironic to our discussion about Beachy's pitch count and the points made about Kerry Wood, ESPN is reporting this morning that Wood will announce his retirement today.
