Atlanta Braves II

I don't think anything has happened. With him being the only lefty in the rotation, I think he gets at least another start or two.

Unfortunately, I think he's here all season. For better or worse. After all, we did waste, I mean use, the 7th overall pick on him.

I'm not ready to give up on him yet. When he is right, he gets guys out.

We are still talking about a pitcher who is 24 years old. Give him a couple of more starts, then if no good send him to Gwinnett to work on some things (Good Changeup).

Last night his fastball was 90 and his changeup was 84. Good luck.

He has always been a guy that sits at 89-91 that can run it up to 94 or so. His changeup is doodoo right now. He is also trying to be wayyyy too fine, especially second time through the order.

He is going to figure it out, but I think it would be better for him to go elsewhere. His changeup is filthy when it is on.. but he should have never been drafted 7th overall. He cannot locate his pitches, that is the issue. And he has yet to develop a quality 3rd pitch. If he doesn't get it together he will end up in the pen in a couple of years. Ironically, I think he would be dominate in the pen.. but the way he is, I highly doubt he could shallow his pride and make a move like that.

This was Mark Bradley's argument in the AJC, and I don't get it at all. Who cares if there aren't any lefties in the rotation? It's not like they switch the rotation around to get matchups for the LHPs anyway.

It might worry me a little going into the playoffs, but that's a long way off. In May, not at all.

It is a kick in the nads for Derek Lowe to be pitching the way he is while the Braves pay his salary. Dude was basically a .500 pitcher with a 4.50 ERA and 1.50 WHIP for the past 3 years.

He still has a 1.50 WHIP. It's a fluke. He pitched great for the Braves down the stretch in 2010; it doesn't mean any more now than it did then.

I'm nowhere near ready to give up on him, but a guy with great stuff who has trouble getting through the order a second time because he doesn't have a third plus pitch is the very definition of a bullpen pitcher. He's got to figure something out or he'll be in the bullpen in a whole lot less than two years.

Yep . . . He's got to find a slider or curve that he can throw for strikes. Fastball/change up only works for so long unless you can locate the hell out of it or sink it.
