Because of the way they lost to OU, I'm not looking forward to this game. If they'd have lost a shootout, I'd feel a little better about Saturday, knowing that the offense could put up points. But to lose a game that they had sewed up after three quarters, a game that they outplayed Oklahoma for pretty much the entire first half, a game that they went in to a shell and played not to lose.....I'm preparing for the worst.

And even if we go up by 21 midway through the fourth quarter, I probably won't relax until the game clock expires.

Seeing Tulsa put 605 total yards on OU yesterday did not do my heart any good.

I'm hoping that Preston Williams gets more run in The Swamp. I think he's the most electric, most natural, most dangerous WR of the bunch and he needs the ball coming in his direction regularly.

Apparently Butch doesn't know any other way to play. He's lost three games in almost identical fashion by trying to sit on a lead like that since he's been here. This game feels a lot like the 2012 UF game to me. On paper there's every reason in the world that we should win, and things could get really ugly for out third year coach if he loses. Hopefully Butch doesn't blow this one, for everyone's sake.

I know, and I know that I'm probably the only Panthers fan in here, but Ron Rivera was close to getting ran out of Charlotte after playing it safe in Buffalo, Week 2 2013, a game that they went on to lose because he took the conservative route. Ever since then, he's been Riverboat Ron, they take chances when the percentages/situations dictate they should, and it generally works in their favor. Butch needs to flip his script and take some chances.

I'm not holding my breath for him to take more chances. After laying BS about "four hours of analytics" going into his decision to kick a FG early in the OU game, he surely heard the fan outcry, and doubled down last night by doing the exact same thing again Western Effing Carolina.

I'm getting convinced that he's either incapable, or unwilling to learn from his mistakes, and I'm not sure which of those two is worse.

Problem is he's already flipped the script ... the wrong way. He went from 2013 UGA game calling plays like a madman: trick plays, going on fourth, taking shots, creative play calls to get the ball into playmakers' hands, etc. to 2013 Vandy where well, we all know how that turned out. Why be so creative/aggressive with the garbage he had in early 2013 and then so scared/conservative with all this talent?

I'd say that on paper UF's defense looks tailor-made to replicate what OU did to us in the second half -- sit in man coverage across the board, stack the box, and overwhelm our OL and the running game. If Dobbs can't make them pay then it's anybody's game.

Really think they missed an opportunity to develop some rhythm with Dobbs and the receivers in the mid-long range passing game against essentially air this game. But it was the same nonsense. LWS claims they don't use the middle of the field because Dobbs has no consistency there, would have been a good game to work on that.

Incidentally, anyone else find it interesting that the two Vols receivers that arguably look the best are the two that have been coached by Azzani the least? Jennings has only been a wide-out since the second week of camp and Williams missed all of camp. Goes back to how North's best year was when he was a true freshman where he made amazing plays all over the place and now he apparently can't get open. :zeitung_lesen:

If Dobbs can't beat them with his feet or hit a few passes over the top, we won't score more than 10-14 points. No way we win a game like that.

This is all why I think that Preston Williams needs to be more involved this week. Sometimes, you just put a guy out there and let him make some plays. I'd like to see Kamara involved more in the return game as well. Sutton is very good, but Kamara has another gear.

They're going to at least half to try to give Dobbs the opportunity to make them pay. Doing the same garbage where the receivers just turn sideways and wait for Dobbs to immediately will probably be ineffective at best, and catastrophic at the worst against a defense with as much speed and talent as UF. It barely even worked against FCS competition yesterday.
