Yep.... People just have to come to terms with what he is; not what he looks like he could be. For the right price, most teams in MLB would love to have him in RF.

Also doesnt help that offense has increased, so his value dwindles. His numbers arent 15% above league average now.

I think you bring it up all the time but being 6'5 really hurts his perception too.

I still think the Braves organization screwed him. Dude has a 131 OPS+ as a 20 year old rookie. Those guys are rare. Then over the winter the Braves talked about needing more power and being more aggressive and then his swing looks different and he is swinging at bad pitches.

I think they’re pretty dang close to accurate. Strictly from an eye to metric comparison. Metrics tell me Andy Simmons is one of the best and Matt Kemp is one of the worst. Now there are cases where i think it devalues, like Freddie Freeman, but I could be a bias

No but that was before he was a solid offensive player. The last two years he hasn’t been been worth the contract

Google tells me he's the 19th highest paid player in the MLB.

Was he ever worth that? I'm seriously asking. I took a hiatus from baseball and just got back into watching a bunch last summer.

I think you could make a legit case with his age and defense that at the time yes, especially for a team like Chicago that only had one major contract on the books.
