Including green card holders in the ban was either incompetence or malevolence or both.

Most of the stories that were widely shared on social media that got people down to the airports were about green card holders. The Clemson professor who was worried about getting back to her dog. The 80 year old grandparents in wheelchairs. The mom who couldn't get back to her kids. People who have already gone through the legal process and built lives here.

It would have been easy for the administration to phase in a strict travel ban that got almost all of what they wanted without the stories about stranded green card-holding families and Iraqi interpreters. For whatever reason they chose not to do that.

With you 100% on what could/should have been done. But the commentary/outrage/protesting that I see is so far away from being rooted in anything with logic. I understand coming from your age, surrounding, quantity of life experience and reasonable thought that you can view things that way. Same here.

My fear is "the masses" .. people wanting trouble for troubles sake, narrow minded, racist, reverse racist, protest to protest, wanting a handout, inherently evil .. there's so much out there that aren't striving to achieve anything or promote unity or offer a solution. Social media is a real issue IMO.

I deal extensively with 14-16 year olds. I wish Twitter, FB, Instagram, snapchat, whatever comes next ceased to exist yesterday. FB live is incredibly horrendous.

I don't know how democracy is supposed to work if we can't agree on a shared set of facts, or at least recognize any kind of expertise to help us sort through it. We were already headed down the path of balkanization but social media has really accelerated it.

The whole principle of majority rule rests on the shared notion that we come together to deliberate and vote. Without agreement on basic facts deliberation is impossible, and without that it all falls apart and just becomes about naked will to power all the way around. I am terrified for the future.

Powell said he's raised his ceiling to Andruw Jones and I just look at my screen with a 😐 face. But I like him a lot. One would think a couple more could break through.

Interested to see how Anderson, Wentz, Mueller, and Wilson do this season.
