Atlanta Braves Thread (I HURT MYSELF TODAY TO SEE IF I STILL FEEL)

Just learned today that my 2nd cousin for the Braves Devan Watts who last played at Rome towards the end of last season might get moved up to Gwinnett to start this season.

His stats from last year were unbelievable: Devan Watts Stats, Highlights, Bio | MiLB.com Stats | The Official Site of Minor League Baseball

I'd say he has a solid chance that he comes up to the MLB club this coming season. He was hitting 93-96 on the gun late last season & has 4 pitches total including a devastating curveball.

He would come up as either our closer or setup man. We are tickled to death as a family. He's came so far so fast. He's only 21 years old. Soon to be 22 in April.

Congrats to him. Would be fun seeing a family member on a pro team you actually liked

Looking at baseball draft stuff again; DL Hall is gonna be the pick, you guys. Book dat.

Lefty, low 90's fastball, great offspeed, high schooler in GA. Couldn't draw up a more Braves' pick.

Born would be an absolute terrible hire and there would be a big backlash, but the people saying they'd never attend another game and would be done with the Vols are idiots.

I obviously would never be done but I can't say I'd spent much attending games etc for a while. I've questioned leadership for quite a while now and this would absolutely justify it. Especially would make my blood boil that they would have used a search firm to "find" him. Having said that, I don't see them hiring him. They have to do be smarter than that.

I just don't understand how that is gonna mg to help the program. We're going to be stuck with him for at least a few years. If the fan base dies off or apathy sets in, that hurts a huge appeal in recruiting. It's even more counterproductive. The leadership for sure sucks, that's pretty evident. But being done seems to me like it would only prolong things.

The only effective way for the fan of a program (or any sport for that matter) to voice displeasure, that will be taken seriously, is to hit them in the pocket book.

I really don't understand the recruiting angle, I don't think it hurts it any where near as much as losing does. Losing to Vandy and USCe is far more detrimental. Winning cures all, if you're not winning you better be flipping switches until you do. You gotta remember how hungry this fan base is, and the fans that have made it this far, aren't going anywhere. Just voicing their displeasure, I don't see anything wrong with it. If they hire Bohn I won't blame any of them if they withold funding.

I get the winning angle, but if Bohn didn't hire him, how would he be to blame?

(Again, I think he would be a terrible hire)

I only attended two games of the dooley era

The GA dome vs nc state and the hyped Florida debacle because my little brother wanted to go

F dooley

If neyland stadium had 102,455 every home game in dooleys last season there is a very real chance that they would've brought him back.

If you really want to be pissed think about this: prominent booster Anderson dislikes Blackburn because Blackburn spoke out AGAINST him in the hiring of Derek Dooley. Let that marinate. Blackburn didn't want Dooley and is begging for the job publicly and will be lucky to get an interview.

This is when I checked out
