Atlanta Braves Thread (I HURT MYSELF TODAY TO SEE IF I STILL FEEL)

10 goals in 5 games. Hasn't been done since 2001.

He started so slow, had like 3 goals in the first 25 or 30 games. (Don't quote me on that, going from memory) and could still finish with over 40. LOL.

To be fair, he had a large number of shots that should have been goals. He couldn't catch a break. If he hits 40 goals this season I'll get Prince Filip tatted on my ass

Talked to Devan this evening & we chatted about a few things for about 10 minutes or so. He said he was surprised that the Braves had not added him to the 40-man roster yet. He said it bothers him a little considering how he dominated last season at low A-AA levels while others struggled & either stayed on the 40-man or new ones were added & not him. He's taking that as motivation for 2017. He wants to stay a Brave considering he grew up a big Braves fan.

He's not in the MLB spring training camp but he's in minor league camp & is expected to start at Gwinnett to start the season. There's a small chance he starts back out as Mississippi though. He told me his arm felt good & he worked out all offseason long to strengthen his arm.

He said his fastball is now consistently hitting 95 on the gun with an occasional 96-98 pitch or two when needed to pump it up a bit. He said his changeup has improved the most. It was his last pitch last season but he said he's comfortable enough now with it to throw it at any count.

I know I'm pumping up a family member here but hey he was a 17th round pick & has just run through every better he's faced like nothing. He just might be a MLB Brave sometimes this season guys.

I hope so in order for you'll to see his stuff & competitive nature. He would make a solid closer for us I do believe. If not a setup man but he has the stuff to be a dominate closer. Thanks!

Edit: Here's a scouting report for Watts but it was from last year. Still has same pitching arsenal but stronger arm & more controlled changeup now: https://tomahawktake.com/2016/10/10/atlanta-braves-scouting-report-reliever-devan-watts/

A little concerned about the new AD's reputation as a micromanager with his coaches. On one hand, I'm glad he is going to be all up in Butch's ass, but on the other, a little concerned that coaches won't want to work with him when it comes time to replace
Butch.

Ah, so we're gonna get a whole new controversy about the hurt and shiny feelings of Phil Fulmer. Screw him too.

Maybe someone needs to inform him that it's not 1980 anymore, and simply being a former football coach doesn't exactly fulfill the requisite experience needed to run an AD with 20+ sports and a budget in excess to $100M.

It's not even just that. Hyams ran a story this afternoon claiming that

A) Fulmer still detests Currie as a result of his firing 9 years ago,
B) supposedly the main reason Fulmer sought the job to begin with was to keep Currie from getting it (!), and
C) Fulmer apparently got a phone call on Monday (?) that made him think he was going to be the one hired. And then he didn't get it.

Also the search committee was divided. And supposedly a lot of people thought Currie was an ass_hole during his first stint at Tennessee.

In other words, even settling on a compromise candidate is causing a lot of widespread butthurt, and the guys who didn't get their way are already using Hyams to shovel shlt on the new guy before he even starts the job. Way to go Tennessee.

It seems as if it's what Tennessee does best

That's pretty much it. That's also pretty much why I think Hyams is worthless.

Shame on everyone involved. Bunch of babies. My goodness, we are a disgusting joke and we all have to sit in the middle and suck on it. I don't know how any of this can be fixed at this point.
