I'm saying that my cous Devan Watts used his 4th pitch the last season right at 15% of the time. He even told me that over the phone. What do you think the normal % is for a pitcher's 4th pitch? If you didived them if half it would be 25% so you're telling me it's not possible that a pitcher can't throw that 4th pitch 15% of the time? It's very possible.
Here's an example:
35% 4-seam fastball
30% slider
20% curveball
15% changeup
What does that add up to? 100% of their pitches & a 4th pitch at 15%. the 4th pitch will in almost all cases be the lowest % thrown except in certain pitchers but not many.
It's a very possible scenario for any pitcher. Are you saying it's a lower or higher number than 15% for that 4th pitch that is common? Thanks.
Nope, it is not very possible. Let's just take a few examples from that link that I posted you mainly focusing on the top relievers and starters
Relievers
Andrew Miller: 4-Seam: 41.86%, Slider: 51.84%
Kenley Jansen: Cutter: 92.31%, Slider: 5.58%, Sinker: 2.10%
Zach Britton: Sinker: 94.35% Curve: 5.65%
Dellin Betances: 4Seam: 49.49, Curve: 50.51
Kelvin Herrera: 4Seam:59.31, Change:23.53, Curve: 13.24, Slider: 2.94, Sinker: .49
Starters
Kershaw: 4Seam:51.13, Slider: 27.22, Curve: 14.98
Julio Teheran: 4Seam: 49.90, Sinker: 8.40, Change: 8.87, Slider: 25.26, Curve: 7.93
Jake Arrietta: 4Seam: 12.23, Sinker: 44.96, Change: 3.24, Slider: 28.42, Curve: 11.15
Madison Bumgarner: 4Seam: 43.98, Change: 5, Curve: 22.96, Cutter: 28.32,
As you can see it is not easy to find a reliever that even throws four pitches much less one that hits 15% with his fourth pitch, and even hard to find a starter that uses more than three pitches over 15%
