This makes total baseball sense, but I can't believe they were ballsy enough to unload Kimbrel. I figured he, Teheran, Freeman and Simba were untouchable just to keep the peace.

I mean, honestly, he wasn't going to have a ton of opportunities on this team this year anyway.

The only thing that bothers me is that all of these offensive prospects we're getting are from the Padres....whose offense has stunk ever since they moved into Petco Park and we're supposed to believe that they are astute evaluators of offensive talent?

Maybin is $7mil this year, $8mil next, then a $9mil team option/$1mil buyout. Quentin is $8mil this year and very likely $3mil buyout next year, if he's still even with Atlanta.

@BenBadler: Matt Wisler is the best prospect the Braves have added this offseason. Throws strikes, two plus pitches, durable, near-MLB ready.

We hosed them. Hard.

I'm trying to look at it objectively and not be a homer, but I think I agree. It looks like the Padres overvalued the 9th inning to the tune of adding absolute dead weight salary to the roster and effectively playing with 24 this year.

In addition to this, what is the point of an elite closer when the team is going to be awful this season? They sold high and got more prospects/ a pick.

Can't half ass a rebuild. They're going all in.

I'm glad we will have all that money in '16 & '17 to sign the next Uggla and The Player formerly known as BJ Upton
