At UT the players have always had a disturbing tendency to get in trouble in groups. The brawl on the strip where the cop got assaulted, the basketball players driving around smoking weed with Tyler Smith's gun, the robbery at the Pilot, the two-man rape-accusation event at in the fall, whatever this is, etc etc. I'm not willing to just say "oh well, college kids making stupid decisions" when it's so often groups of players going out and getting in trouble together. It doesn't happen like that at Georgia, that's for sure.
Those are three incidents over six years. I get what you are saying. I do. I just don't think it's a culture issue as you suggest.
That's at least four. Plus the incident where some guys got busted for weed with a recruit in the car, so there's five.
All I know is that I'm saturated with Georgia media down here and the group arrest almost never happens to them. Say what you want about Mark Richt. It happens up in Knoxville every year.
Yeah but instead their guys get arrested for dui's all the time. Is that a culture problem ? The incidents have covered two AD's and three different football coaches.
Their DUIs and their jaywalking-while-drunk arrests and their various weed busts are exactly the kind of stuff I chalk up to college kids doing college stuff. They haven't had a group rape allegation. They haven't had a group robbery. They haven't had a brawl where a group of players fought with the cops.
Maybe it's just a coincidence. I'm sick as hell of being embarrassed about it though.
