It's delicious and I love to eat it, but it's not pizza. Deep dish is basically a pizza inspired casserole.

I don't completely disagree, but it's a round piece of bread topped with tomato sauce and cheese. If the stuff from Pizza Hut and Papa John's qualifies, then the definition of "pizza" has to be expansive enough to include deep dish.

That's partially why I'm worried.
