"There's no story here," said forward Jeronne Maymon. "We're supposed to be here. We're one of the best teams in the country."

Boom!

Spring training and a sweet 16 berth on the same day, yessir!

This tournament is awesome. Just watched Sam Dower's (Gonzaga) press conference. The emotion is just so genuine. I'm not sure there's anything like it.

The hockey playoffs. That's probably it.

I hope this TV arrangement with CBS and the Turner channels lasts forever. The way they have it set up now is damn near perfect.

The difference in $24 million a year and a Kershaw-like FA contract would probably be $30-35 million over the length of the contract. I would much rather sign the contract now and be locked into that money than take the risk of injury, a bad season, etc. Maybe he and Boras thought they could get Kershaw-like money from Detroit now. Seems like a crazy risk to me.

Detroit tried to low ball him then threw a whiney ***** fit in the media. Good thing they came off that huge prince fielder contract so max Scherzer could tell em to stick it.

FYI Detroit sucks and the whole state of Michigan can fall off into whatever Great Lake surrounds it.

Actually Scherzer wanted 8/200 million. Detroit offered 6/144. Not real sure how that is lowballing. The difference being 1 million per year apart.

If he doesn't sign, not like the Prince Fielder money is forever for moot. They'll be more than fine.

Yeah..more than fine. Let me know how that verlander contract works out.

It's low balling in reference to the market.

The difference is 56 million, not 1 million.

Also, he probably hates Detroit. He probably hates being cold all the time. He probably hates the American League. And he, like every self respecting American, probably hates the whole state of Michigan.

I hadn't seen the actual numbers, but $56 million rather than ~$30 million is inching up to the point where playing out the season starts to make sense.

What is the market for 30 year old power arm (higher risks) pitchers coming off of one career year? I honestly don't know.

I'll roll with Chipper's opinion on it.

Here is the thing, he is no where near Clayton Kershaw as a pitcher or in age. So why would he get CK money? Clayton Kershaw is the best pitcher in the world. Scherzer isn't even the best pitcher on his team.
