Is this a popular opinion? I'm hoping to purchase one or the other this weekend. I don't know anyone that has either, so I've not really heard about any issues that would crop up with either system that you wouldn't necessarily hear about at the store from a salesperson.

Really just depends on what you want it for. From a strictly gaming perspective, the PS4 is going to be the more powerful console and the games are probably going to look a little better. If you have kids that would enjoy the Kinect, then the Xbox One has that going for it. To me the most important thing in deciding which one to buy is to get the one that your friends have, but you said you don't know anybody who has either, so that's off the table.

Probably my favorite unique feature of the Xbox One is that I can run my DirecTV through it, and can just pause whatever game I'm playing and instantly switch back to watching TV without having to switch/turn off a bunch of stuff. It's just a nice little convenience.

I really think the basketball forum this morning might be the ugliest I've ever seen VN. Worse than the Kentucky FB loss, worse than the Gruden stuff. The bile in there is unbelievable.

Incredible. People have taken sides, put their foot down, and refuse to budge. Not only that, but the extremists are out in full force today. It is ugly. I figured that there would be slight backlash to him staying, but Jesus it is just awful in there.

Outside busy season for me (when I only go here & Grizz), I'll bounce around the FF and RF from time to time to glean a little info or make or few jokes or just do it for the likes (amirite nati?), but I will never go to the BBF. It's the worst of humanity. People without sense, with strong agenda, without regard for anything resembling right/wrong/consequences/intelligence of the reader, etc. I've never read a single thing in the bball form that began to make sense of enhance my life in anyway, dating back several years.

I don't think Martin is the answer long term, but it's incredible the vitroil he has received from the fan base. Just pure ridiculousness. They act like he's had three straight losing seasons, when he's won 19,20, and 24 games respectively. He's improved every year. He's a great representative for the university. I can't figure out why the "HE IS AWFUL, HE MUST GO, THIS IS KILLING OUR BASKETBALL PROGRAM" crowd is so vicious. He's not burning the program to the ground, nor will he. Keeping him one more year won't destroy this program.

I've got mixed feelings about it myself. But the way people are openly ****ing on Cuonzo and those three tournament wins is just horrible.

I'm slightly offended. :)

I get the disappointment if not the vitriol. It seems pretty clear that the ceiling on Cuonzo is not that high, and that this was a rare zipless opportunity to replace a mediocre but not exactly losing coach with someone hopefully better. The Gregg Marshall stuff was a pipe dream, but let's face it, unless we completely screwed up the hire, the high likelihood was that at the very least we wouldn't get anyone much worse. From a purely on-the-court standpoint, it probably would have been better to trade Martin for whatever's behind Door #1. If you don't think that Martin is a championship-level coach, then we just put off employing a championship-level coach by at least two and maybe three more years. I understand why some people are disappointed with it.

However, I also think what Tennessee athletics needs right now more than anything is stability. We've got to stop the revolving door. The idea of another coaching search is nauseating. Martin is a great guy to have representing the university; we could do a whole lot worse than him to be one of the public faces of our school for a few years. At this point I think I care more about that than I do actually winning games.

The truth is, there really aren't that many good coaches in college basketball. Roy Williams is an idiot. Bill Self watched Andrew wiggins take 5 shots. Dukes possessions down the stretch against mercer? Yikes.

I was in favor of losing cuonzo ONLY if there was a handshake deal in place with Bruce. Again, likelihood being 0.001%--I understand why some don't want him here, I understand why he can't be here, etc--not watching to discuss Bruce.

Just emphasizing that there aren't many options that I would deem a significant upgrade, and they sure as hell aren't coming here.

It's about recruiting TOP talent (we aren't gonna out recruit KY as long as Cal is living and breathing) or it's about developing older, hardened guys (upper class men) willing to sell out and play together. That's what college basketball has become.

Hell, cuonzo has a shot at being #2. With that, there will certainly be years where we aren't top end great, but the landscape of college basketball changes almost daily.

Cuonzo will keep searching for jobs. He's just too underpaid given the run he just went on. Somebody will offer him more than what we are paying. He's either getting a raise or leaving.

(That's my opinion. I was also under the impression that he was gone to Marquette.)

If you look at that list of top 25 college BB coaches ranked by salary, it's pretty clear that other than a handful of names up at the top, the whole sport is pretty crapshooty. There are a number of mid-tier guys for whom I'd swap Cuonzo if we were just trading baseball cards. But there aren't that many that would make it worth the upheaval of yet another coaching transition. I was wrong to completely write the guy off before the season played all the way out.

Flirting with another job, meeting the athletic director, and then withdrawing your name from consideration is always followed by a raise and extension. As day follows night.
