AU to fire Malzahn

#1) I don't think Sankey let's anyone in the SEC hire Freeze. #2) Fulmer is not hiring Freeze even if Sankey allows it, and #3 Fulmer is NOT firing Pruit anytime soon.
1. At this point Sankey can only consult and give his opinion. He can't legally force a team to not hire Freeze..
2. Evidently Fulmer was OK with Freeze being Pruitt's OC two years ago.
3. If left up to him, probably so but he can easily be over ruled by money.

1) Bad coach gets hired.
2) Bad coach gets some good players.
3) Team regresses.
4) "Give him enough time"
5) Good players gone
6) Fire coach, leave behind team with no talent.
7) Start back at 1.

The UT football cycle of death. Can't help but wonder what would happen if we went straight from 3 to 6 just this one time.

This is so accurate it hurts

Can't argue that. I would like to tattoo that on a stick and hit the collective admin in the head with it.

There was a guy in Tennessee media (don't remember who) who said that they should not fire Pruitt because this year the crop of coaching candidates is not good.

And I completely disagree with that. There are about 5 coaches out there off the top of my head who would be good hires.

Even if you struck out on Freeze, there are others.
Eh, no thanks on a beta coach. Proven at the P5 level or gtfo

Tom Allen is on my short list. Proven HC in a P5 conference with a school not known for being a football school.

I have never been impressed with Malzhan or Freeze. And both schools have major rumors of cheating and paying players under each HC.

Flame away, but just my opinion.

If Tom doesn't learn to cheat, smartly, he won't make it in the SEC. If you are good enough, players get paid at all levels of college football. Amounts may differ and methods of delivering the "payment". However, Bama is at a different level. They remind me of a pro-team.

Sounds like this is getting some steam. Trying get in on the Freeze sweepstakes. Negotiating a 10 year settlement to pay Gus his remaining 21 million.
It’s not getting steam anywhere. Fans were a little ticked about what he said in his post game presser yesterday, but there’s no indication that he’s getting fired this year.

Not to mention bama is a cash cow for the governing body that enforces the rules. Can we say, conflict of interest?

Gus has been way too inconsistent there since his first and best season. Auburn fans want SEC titles every couple of years and to beat Bama and Georgia more than Gus does they are tired of the rollercoaster Gus always has them on in the 8 seasons he has been there now. We always harken back to our glory days the 90’s right well Auburn fans want and think they should be winning big and running the SEC like they did in the 80’s with Pat Dye. I could totally see them getting Freeze though while we are stuck with Cornbread thru the 2022 season.

They have had less than 4 losses once since 2013 under Malzahn and haven't been able to replicate the success they had with him as OC in winning a title.
I can understand that but what about all of the bowl games they have been in so often? How have you been doing recently? Did you have a good Thanksgiving?

They've been firing him for years. Sooner or later the prognosticators will be right.
But he has them in some kind of bowl game on a regular basis. I wish Tennessee could make a bowl game 8 out of every 10 years.
