I don’t know what should have been done to field competitive athletics but in this day and age where things are fine then all of a sudden they aren’t she did what will be perceived as right now and down the road thereby protecting the university and in doing so did her job.

NCAA is a joke. I’m not worried at all about the sanctions. I bet if we reduce a few scholarships and bowl ban, that will be it. I’m hoping they did all this to save a buyout but know to compete with the big boys, you have to bend the rules. They can’t be that stupid. But it was beyond dumb to invite the NCAA. I wonder if Pruitt was 7-3 if any of this had even happened. I don’t think it does.

The NCAA is a organization that is on its way out and they know it. Their original intent was to make a level playing field for ALL college sports and they not only have lost their way but have totally lost control. At this point it has nothing to do with fairness and everything to do with money. The selective punishment, transfer rulings and overall equality standards for each school can all be tracked back to who represents the most cash flow potential for the NCAA.

If the players are allowed to organize or receive payments in any form they will be totally unable to regulate this worse than they do now and will become even more irrelevant. The P5 schools will start their on association and regulate those members relegating the NCAA to over see whats left if anything at all.

Yes I do I train kids and hv done this over 15 yrs. Many on here know this but just want to be contrarians and argue because they’re naive and believe in everything that UT does is good. The problem was and is now you have idiots as boosters who argued about the hire of CJP, then he wasn’t an ass kisser and didn’t just walk around with his nose in their butts which rubbed some of the, the wrong way. There was not 1 whistle blower at all, but a few. The fools thought Freeze would come here after that debacle and from a personal source the SEC said NO but he also was hesitant due o the public display that went on from the leak to the press conference and saw sentiments of Ole Miss. We have several kids being recruited and offered by him and his staff as well as every P5 team in the country. The way UT operated was disgusting and bush league.

Late to this but two things are obvious. Even if the chancellor was hell bent on firing Pruitt for cause and not paying once she got a sniff of the allegations, there is no reason to not have enough information to have made a decision at least two weeks sooner which would have helped with roster retention, coaching hires and recruiting.

Second, de1conley is absolutely correct that the over-the-top self righteous press conference was beyond foolish. It scared off hires and recruits for absolutely no value. The sordid details could have been reported to the NCAA if she wanted without the grandstanding.

He could’ve solved a lot of his own problems if he just didn’t continue to not only lose but get blown out by the big 3. Or not been blown out by UK. Kentucky. In football. Blew us out. At Neyland. Kentucky.

Hell if he just could’ve found a way to go 5-5 then it all likely plays out differently.

The biggest rumor I heard was that the whistle blower was Trey Smith's sister.

Jason Swain has also been asked about it and all he would say was that's a rumor. Swain would have shut that down if there wasn't any truth to it.

I also have felt sorry for swaying kids to UT over the past 10 yrs as it hasn't benefited them while others went to better places and on to the next level. So personally I dgaf what you're tired of. I've been laughed at on here before and then the masses cm bk to say I was right so none of the negativity bothers me at all.

He didn't recruit great at TN. He recruited good. His top 2 recruiting classes both had over 29 signees. His would be classified in the more is not better category.

How many times hv we seen a yr in which the SEC only had 4 or 5 teams win over 6 games? So apparently a lot of ppl regressed or had a lack of progression right? I'll wait on a response.

I know a few things about Pruitt and have taken a phone call from him. Gave him a shot and benefit of the doubt but had and will always have distain for him. He could play the recruiting game and that is it. He was failing and would fail as a coach with or without Covid. He was not the answer here and I was hoping he would be on the field. He was good to players unlike Butch but he could not manage an organization. Sand Mountain dumb ass who can be a good coordinator with someone else in charge.

Answer me this, if Covid is to explain for this season - why did we win and look much better for the first 2.5 games this season and then regress to where we lost to a team who hadn’t won a conference game in 2 years and get embarrassed in Neyland by a basketball school? I’ll wait on a response.

Just an opinion from a fan. We understand the disfunction in our administration. We understand what has gone wrong. Fans scream for the coach to be fired all the time. They are generally ignored. But it appears (and seems to be supported by your comments about Pruitt and boosters) that Pruitt was basically Tom Herman. Part of being a head coach is keeping boosters happy. But even with that and other reports of those in administration hating the way he treated them, he would not have had anything to worry about if he had beat one of KY, AUB or ARK and showed some improvement. They performed worse, and the calls from the coaches were horrible. We can all agree he should have been fired at the end of the season, but apparently the AD and his friends were not willing. He needed to be fired. Could they have done it another way? IDK, and it doesn't matter now. We have an excellent AD now. As fans all we can do is hope CJH can succeed. He should at least be able to prepare the team to be in a position to win most games. If you find that you need to tell players not to come to Tennessee, then there's nothing we can do to stop you. But we as Tennessee fans are not going to like it.
