Make it another commitment for Tennessee football.
Aubrey Phillips, a 6-foot-6, 310-pound lineman from Oliver Branch, Miss., told UT coaches Saturday he will play for the Vols.
Phillips had offers from Georgia Tech, Louisville, Memphis, Ole Miss and Penn State.
Phillips is UT's fourth commitment in three days as the Vols hold their football camp this week. Defensive back Nyshier Oliver from St. Peter's prep in New Jersey City, N.J., also committed Saturday. Running back Jarvis Giles of Gaither High School in Tampa, Fla., committed Friday. Offensive lineman Kevin Revis of Rhea County committed Thursday.
Phillips is UT's eighth commitment for the 2009 signing class. He joins Oliver, Giles, Revis, receiver Je'Ron Stokes of Northeast High in Philadelphia, Pa., tailback Toney Williams of Milton High in Alpharetta, Ga., running back Dominique Allen from Henry County High in Paris, Tenn., and athlete Damien Thigpen from Stonewall Jackson High in Manassas, Va.

Sounds like a big guy. It is always good to pick up a lineman! 4 guys in 3 days is awesome!!! Keep it up guys!

OL or DL? I'm guessing OL by his size but it would be great to get a DT that size!

Glad to see another lineman added, not sure how good he is, but you can never have too many big guys!

I bet Marlon Walls had a little something to do w/ this recruit :)

Phillips is transferring to Olive Branch for his senior year, much like Walls did. He still might have had a little to do with it, both players are originally from TN.

We put out some of the best down here. OB has had a very strong program for a few years now. Glad to see this young man become a Vol.

The kid is a man child. I seen him last year in a scrimmage when he was attending Woodale High School. He is a beast !

Aubrey Phillips has just been rated a 3* by Rivals, but he is ranked at the #40 OT in the country.

Interesting, he shot up pretty high for not being ranked originally. I wonder if Schofield will earn some stars soon. Also, I hope they put a video of Phillips and Williams up soon.

Stop it with the Saban stuff.........we have enough to worry about with our own situation. Saban took a pay CUT to go from the Dolphins to Bama...........5 million with the Dolphins.........3.5 the first year with Bama......

With Alabama playing host to Mississippi State last Saturday, it stands to reason that several Magnolia state prospects would be interested in the outcome of that game. One of those recruits is Tide commit Rod Woodson who brought along his teammate and UA OL target Aubrey Phillips.

"Alabama looked real good. They always come out real prepared. I thought it was a good game. Mississippi State showed me a lot of heart. They play hard for Coach Croom and they didn't give up, but Alabama wasn't going to give them anything," said Woodson who is a Rivals250 member. "They had to work for every yard and Alabama wore them down. I talked to Coach Saban a little bit after the game. He told me they can't wait for me to get to Alabama. I have a shot to play some early at safety. I am playing linebacker now but I think I see the field a little better at safety."

Woodson indicated that nothing has changed regarding his commitment status to Alabama.

"I am real solid to Alabama. They treat me well and I like the way they play defense," said Woodson. "Ole Miss is probably recruiting me the hardest out of the other schools. They send mail all the time. I have about 90 tackles so far. I probably should have more."

Phillips, 6-foot-6, 310-pound Tennessee commit, is being recruited heavily by the Tide but has yet to land an offer.

"It was cold, cold, cold and windy but I thought the crowd was really great considering it wasn't always real comfortable to be there. Rod and I were able to talk to some of the coaches," said Phillips. "Coach Saban told me that they are still looking at me hard and want to see more film. I think I would fit in real well with their offensive line. They get after it and they run block real well. They could have protected a little better but Mississippi State blitzes pretty well.

"I may not be going to Tennessee. I am still committed to them, but I have to wait to see who they get in there as a coach. I haven't talked to anyone from Tennessee in a long time. None of the coaches have really tried to call me to tell me what is going on."

Olive Branch will travel to Madison Central this Friday in Mississippi playoff action.
