Phillips is back on Rivals (12/28/08 commitment date :blink:)..... Rivals now shows UT at 18 commitments.

Pretty sure he's a solid verbal back with us. Also D.T. Shackleford is gonna take three visits now I think to UT, Auburn and Ole Miss...although he did say he's a strong commit he just wanted to make sure...whatever that means(per scout)

"I like how he (Kiffin) tells you like it is," Phillips said. "You know exactly where things stand with him. I asked coach Kiffin when he came to see me if coach (Greg) Adkins was going to stay on staff and he said he didn't know. Then he told me that he knew he was going to be at Tennessee and that I should be there with him. That stuck out to me that night and has stuck with me."

I think he just wants to take his visits and I dont blame him one bit. I would love the chance for 5 major schools to roll the red carpet out for me.

I agree but it still worries me. You never know what coach builds a strong relationship with him......or hostess.

I was just thinking that Rivals might think..."How can we have this kid as a 3* if he's an Army AA...doesn't that make us look at little uninformed"

Plus they have Schofield as a 2 star which is just plain ridiculous. He was cracking heads at the NC/SC bowl...whatever it's called.

Yep...didn't he say he wouldn't recruit players he might have talked to at UT? I guess that was just the first year. Cuz wasn't TT still with UT when we started talking to this kid?

Did it give him so much to think about that he's reconsidering his commitment to Tennessee?

"Right now I'm still committed, it's still Tennessee for me," Phillips said. "With the coaching changes and everything up there I just felt like I needed to take some visits and see what other opportunities were out there.

"It's not anything against Tennessee at all, I still like them a lot. That's still my school right now."

"Coach Kiffin is a real exciting dude, I like talking to him a lot," Phillips said. "I have a good impression of him. He's just really down to earth and he talks to you straight up. He's not going to beat around the bush. If you have a question for him, you're going to get an honest answer."
