I dont know if it really happened or this is just sour grapes from a mom who wanted badly to see her son beat a team he was a fan of growing up, but Its never acceptable to cheer for an injured player IMO. I'll never forget the loud roar at Legion Field from the bama rednecks when Tony Robinson rolled over with his knee injury. There is absolutely no place for it to happen.

Auburn baseball player’s mom: Tennessee fans behavior ‘classless & down right embarrassing’
I was there and didn't hear or see anything disrespectful......I do know when Gonzalez came out of the game on Sunday, he has a decent applause for a well pitched game.

FTR, Auburn fans are notorious crybabies and sore losers.

That being said, I sincerely hope nobody cheered when someone got hurt. That is classless, and if so, whoever did it needs to remember that's somebody's kid out there. It's just baseball. I would be upset if it were my kid and honestly think any parent would feel the same.

I wasn’t at the game, but I know the comments on here were nothing but polite and encouraging for the injured players. I highly doubt the staff was rude, either.
Sounds to me like she has a case of the sour grapes and a Bammer beat writer needed a story and thought it opportune to get in a dig at UT…

Dont throw stones when you live in a glass house ..been to Auburn for Football and Baseball .. has to the worst place ive been for treatment .. and talk about cheering about players injuries .. how about those Aub fans sitting in front of me when we had a player go off with obvio9us knee injury .. its uncalled for there and here .. sorry someone would do that but the Aub pitchers did not look injured and probably wasnt deemed serious .. MOM was upset son had to leave game .. I understand ... but dont throw stones when you live in glass house baseball fans are close to action and you can hear every loud mouth in stands .. all schools have them ... so remember they exist at Auburn also .. witnessed by yours truly ... get some think skin Mom

This has been done everywhere. There is no excuse for this happening but yet it does. As always if it were your son or daughter you wouldn't like it. If this is true the lady has a legitimate complaint. I'm certain of this though not all of the Volunteer fans at that game cheered an injury. I hope your son recovers nicely from his injury and I hope you also rake your own fans when they do this at a sporting event.

Unfortunately, I heard some fan commotion during the broadcast when Mullins and Burkhalter were injured. Dave Neal and Chris Burke even commented on it - Chris chalked it up to TN fans being wary of injuries (ala the Ole Miss football game). I wonder if it was those same idiot hecklers who got into it with fellow TN fans.

I don’t fault Hayden’s mother for feeling how she felt. If I were in her shoes, I’d feel the same way. I realize every fanbase has these type of fans, but that doesn’t excuse the behavior.

I am sure someone said something to them. It has happened to us every place we have been. You have to expect it as the visitors. But I did not hear anything outloud toward her son. Any time a kid reaches for his arm after throwing a pitch it is unnerving. I didn't hear anyone cheer that he got hurt. I don't think that most fans understood why after he was pulled the next guy threw almost 15-20 pitches (guessing not precise) but the average fan did not know what was going on or that when a pitcher is hurt the next pitcher gets unlimited warmups.
I will say that the second situation was different. The fact that it took almost 20 minutes for them to decide if he could pitch or not and then left him and he gave up the homerun then they decided he was hurt after throwing one more pitch and even though there were guys in the bullpen warming up they gave the next pitcher injured warmup pitches of about 10-15. There was some booing on the length of time it took to decide and then there was some vocal people that it was decided he was hurt after he gave up the homerun.
I've been on both sides and I get it. It was not a good look for either team. If she is saying the UT coaches questioning the time given is wrong then she does not understand baseball. You should only get a reasonable amount of time to decide if a pitcher is hurt or not. This game is slow enough.

like your comment and you are correct but you do not think that Alabama fans were not heckling along with their players when UT pitcher got hit with line drive. I hope the kid is not hurt but welcome to the world of competition and as long as there are people in the stands this will happen.

Police our own. If you hear someone being inhumane or boorish, gently remind them that you wouldn't tolerate someone acting that way toward his or her son.

We're all good at telling other groups that "if you're tired of being stereotyped, quit tolerating those in your (fanbase/demographic/tribe/religious group) who say or do things that promote the stereotype."

90% of Tennessee fans are mature enough and good enough to own that task.

Villains ON the field? Yes!
Villains off the field or in the stands? No, we're better than that.

I was there. Much ado about nothing. There was respectful applause when he was walking off the field. Classy gesture if you ask me. The smattering of boos was due to the excessive delays in the game when an inordinate amount of time was spent on 2 occasions to determine if the pitcher could continue or not. Finally, the lady complaining on FB lost a lot of credibility with me when she claimed the LNS staff was rude. Nothing to see here.

I understand what you’re saying and I have little doubt that there was cheering and heckling going on from Bama’s side when Dollander was injured. it goes on everywhere in competition. Heck, I recall Kirby commenting that Ole Miss fans threw rocks at Tennessee’s bullpen when they were in Oxford. It goes along with competition these days. The spotlight is just brighter. It’s unfortunate that it is what it is. I hate seeing any player injured.

I'm guessing part of it may be the mom view also. My wife does not think our players are cocky. I disagree completely. I think we sometimes push it to the ledge and maybe have stepped over a few times. I think premier athletes have to be cocky to be competitors. But I also have always told my guys and others I've coached that you have to leave it between the lines and don't live that way. Life has a way of solving cockiness off the field. Moms hear things and see things that don't sit well with them that us as dads just write off to sports. I've heard things about my kid and others at away games and home games from our own fans that I just passed off as fun or drunkeness or just stupid. Never felt the need to call anyone out. I've been around it so long that it is just part of the game. As an umpire and referee and coach, I've about heard it all. Most of it when aimed at me just made me laugh inside and a few times outloud. Had a mom tell me once that I missed a call, "that's my baby and I know he doesn't foul." I couldn't hold it in and started laughing and her son just said that's my mom, I'm sorry.

When he told us after the game that they were throwing rocks at him his mom was furious. I asked if any hit him and he said no but he did catch a few. He just laughed and said part of playing in SEC.

This did not happen. You can listen to Auburn Baseball's own broadcast of the game (at Auburn Baseball's facebook page) and nobody was cheering when her son was taken out of the game with an injury. In fact you can hear the crowd give him a round of applause as he leaves the field (at the 42:10 mark).

She's a mother whose son had just overthrown a ball to first base and set in motion Tennessee scoring a couple runs. Auburn's announcers spend half the inning talking about what a costly mistake it was. Mullins then injured his arm and had to leave the game. His mother was understandably feeling a lot of emotions in the moment but the crowd was not cheering her son's injury.

“I will never forgive”. Words of a self righteous human being right there.
Yeah, that phrase says it all for me. There is always going to be a classless few at any school, so posting something like this is more a reflection on her than the majority of Vol fans. Also, I’ve NEVER seen any of the staff, which she included in her post, being rude to any fans whatsoever. They’ve always been extremely courteous and respectful.

The mom lives in Gallatin Tennessee. So, when you invite the whole town to see your son pitch game one........and he loses 17-4.

All Little League Mom's become enraged when that happens.

It is the mother hen reaction.
