BREAKING: @libertybaseball HC Jim Toman has resigned his position to pursue other opportunities. That is a total shocker. #liberty
Whoa!
Yep interested to hear what happened
Something had to happen
@KendallRogersD1: Really disappointed in #Libertys decision to part ways with Jim Toman and his staff. Very curious to see @LUADJeffs reasoning on this one.
Liberty has 2-3 top 100 guys in the fold. Be interested to see if/where they were drafted and what impact this might have on them. Surely this couldn't simply be a case of not winning this year. If so, Liberty is not only near sighted but arrogant and oblivious.
@KendallRogersD1: .@TCU_Baseball with some big news as Jim Schlossnagle signed his contract extension. Well deserved. https://t.co/YvxMMWApCh
@KendallRogersD1: .@TCU_Baseballs Jim Schlossnagles new deal with the #Frogs is worth over $1 million per year, along with a total of six years. #TCU
Texas needs to go ahead and offer Price or Whitting now. They're not getting a big name guy at this point and it's obvious that they're going to have to "settle". Stop embarrassing yourselves.
Sully = no
O'Connor = no
Schlossnagle = no
Mainieri = no
Savage = no
Everyone of those jobs, save for maybe UVA, are just as good of jobs as TX in terms of ability to win.

There's got to be a lesson in this somewhere.
I think it just goes to show how hard it is to pull a guy away from a program that is already established, that's already built and is having success. It's hard to put a price on what that is worth. Even a guy like Pat Casey, it took 10 years for him to make a regional out there and now that he's going consistently, why would he want to leave? There is no guarantee, even at a place like Texas where recruiting should be easier and money is no object, that you can build it before you run out of job security. For guys like this, the money doesn't seem worth the risk.
Some will say the chance to challenge your self in a tougher conference...but in most of these cases they've built a program, which is a challenge everywhere...they don't have anything to prove.
The truth is, the Texas job is no longer the best job in the state. That is not to say it can't be, but it's not what it once was, TAMU isn't going anywhere and they are in a more stable conference and they have the swag in terms of recruiting. TCU isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
It took 31 days, but it appears Texas finally found its baseball coach.
The Austin American Statesman reported on Wednesday morning the Longhorns plucked coach David Pierce from Tulane, after two successful seasons with the Green Wave.
Pierce, a lifelong Texas resident until he took over the position at Tulane in 2014, interviewed with Texas AD on June 17 and has been in consistent contact with Longhorns athletic director Mike Perrin ever since.
When reached this morning, Tulane athletic director Troy Dannen indicated he was not in a position to comment on Texas search status. When official, Tulane will begin a national search for Pierces replacement immediately.
In two seasons at Tulane, Pierce took the Green Wave to consecutive NCAA tournaments and won the American Athletic Conference championship in 2016.
Pierces contract with the Green Wave was re-worked in December, but it was not enough to keep him out of Texas grasp. The storied program has had just four coaches since 1911, 35 College World Series trips since 1949 and six national championships.
The University of Texas will have to pay a substantial buyout to Tulane to hire Pierce -- the buyout is reported between $250,000-$500,000.
I don't blame them for running down all their "dream" choices especially knowing they had a hell of a plan B.
I only blame them because they had no shot at those guys. They got played by every one of them and they were dumb enough to believe the interest was sincere. Many believe LSU is the best job in the country, so why would Mainieri leave? Fan support is better, history is just as good (LSU has won more NC's), facilities are better, conference challenge is better and LSU would pay well enough to make Texas work for it. Someone like him was never leaving.
