Felix Trinidad cancelled his fight with Bernard Hopkins after he threw the Puerto Rican flag on the ground at a press conference. And Calzaghe cancelled his fight with Hopkins after hopkins said that he would never lose to a white man.

Geno's not in this business to make friends. He's in it to win. Last time I checked, recruiting allegations were just that. There has been no violations reported by the NCAA. So you guys are arguing over him about nothing because he hasn't cheated

Cheating and being caught are two different things. That being said I don't know what he has done or not done, and neither do you. I do know from my contact that Pat is pretty confident about the info she has. And from what I gather some of this has come to her knowledge from people who have been a part of the UCONN program. I will say that from what I gathered these infractions are not major but there is a pattern of actions that she has no respect for. She has taken a stand for what she believes in and I can respect that. And for the record I would not be supportive of canceling with Duke because of the fans. Then I would be right there with you as far as being critics of the decision.

Except, ESPN and everyone else in the world reported it as a secondary violation because it is. The NCAA was just satisfied with what UConn told them they did to rectify the situation. So, yeah, he cheated.

Yeah, in Ali's first fight with Sonny Liston, Liston's corner had put a foreign substance on his glove that blinded Ali for about 2 rounds.

I can see why Ali didn't fight Sonny Liston in a rematch... because "he cheated"...

Seems to me all you've alluded to is a bunch of rumors from your "contact" about some he said/she said crap and some cheating that even you admitted may have not been major. And again, that is no grounds for cancelling a series of games with UCONN. There are plenty of other situations in the past where people have had more of a legitimate reason to cancel a game/event, and the games went on anyways...

Unless it is a big violation (which I don't think it has been, so far) they will accept anything a university gives them so as not to hurt the college game (mens or womens, basketball football what have you). That doesn't mean a violation didn't occur because it obviously did if you read the rules.

Ok, let's try this again slower. The NCAA found UConn committed a secondary violation in the recruitment of freshman superstar Maya Moore. You're digging yourself a hole here, that violation came from the NCAA. In other words, Geno cheated. Period. The NCAA received its information from the SEC, who most likely received it from Pat and Tennessee. Also, in case you really want to remain stubborn about being wrong, here is a link where it tells you in the first sentence that the NCAA found UConn in violation NCAA finds UConn committed a secondary violation during the recruitment of freshman Maya Moore.

Maybe if Pat was head of the NCAA then I would put some stock into what she was saying. Everyone tries to get an advantage, everyone. Pat's been successful with her tactics and so has Geno. Until there is violations discovered by the NCAA this story is meaningless.

You are talking about mens boxing compared to womens basketball! You can't be serious right now?

I'm sure Geno is really staying up at night because of these allegations. Remind me again how costly these allegations will be for UConn? Oh wait, that's right, they're the favorites to win it all next season

You are beyond stubborn! UCONN has been found in violation of NCAA rules. It is fact which cannot be denied!

Dude. You can't call them allegations. The NCAA found them in violation. That's not an allegation. Stop believing your nonsense already and accept the fact that Geno cheated. You're changing arguments with whether or not he cares. I'm sure he doesn't. That isn't the point here, the point is that you were wrong about it being an allegation.

The NCAA really thought a lot of the situation. A repeat of UConn's recruiting tactics could result in a letter to the university. Those cheaters

So actions have taken place against UConn? Is Moore being booted from the NCAA? Geno being forced to resign? A loss of scholarships? A ban from the tourney? Even worse a verbal reprimand and a letter being sent to the university if it happens again. Thank goodness the NCAA has put their foot down on these cheaters

I don't know how serious any possible violations are, nor have I ever claimed to know. As for Geno being worried right now once again i don't know. When a serious violation does occur it is years before the investigation is completed and any allegations are released to the public. Will there ever be I don't know. Is it possible down the road? Could be, but maybe not.

How is it Geno's fault that the 2 major sources of this investigation involve Turasi and Bird? Both have been graduated for years

If they are repeated then you can put money on it...... They will be sanctioned. The NCAA is going to do what is best for the NCAA and hampering their second best womens coach is something they will be very hesitant in doing unless it has to be done.

If you cheat in boxing, the consequences are serious. If you cheat in women's basketball, the consequences suffered by the opposing team are nowhere near as serious. That is my point. That is why I say that there can be no reason in the world why Pat should have cancelled this series. There are plenty of cases cheating that are far more serious than anything Geno could have done, and they still kept the game going.

So in other words, you are just incapable of calling a spade a spade? I'm not in here calling Geno the scum of the earth, I'm just calling him what he is...a cheater. The fact that the NCAA did not sanction UConn is ill-relevant to the fact that Geno cheated. He was caught, the NCAA said "Hey, don't do it again, but we are sure you won't since ESPN has promised us they won't be stupid any more." Frankly, I'm fine with the NCAA being loose on a violation like this, but I'm not going to sit here and pretend it didn't happen to defend a rival coach.

But neither you nor I know what has or hasn't been done. If making a comparison you have to compare two things that are alike. Boxing and basketball don't even go in the same sentence.

THEY TOLD HIM NOT TO DO IT AGAIN BECAUSE IT WASNT A BIG DEAL AND DIDNT MERIT ANY TYPE OF FURTHER PUNISHMENT!!! WHAT CANT YOU GET ABOUT THAT? ITS NOT LIKE THEYRE PAYING PLAYERS

I think most people here are willing to accept that the cheating is not what necessarily ended the series, but rather the straw that broke the camels back. There is a long, storied, body of work that Geno put in to finally make Pat mad enough to send him packing. I'm not even arguing that, you are, I simply pointed out that you were wrong about Geno cheating or the NCAA not ruling on the violation.
