Austin Nichols official visit rumors...

I don't remember anyone saying it was bad for UT if he didn't announce this weekend, as he may still do so.

But people were reporting that he was a lock to UT 2 weeks ago. If his mind was already made up, and the visit went as well as you guys think, he would've committed while here.

It just means that things may be more open than reported.

I remember you for one saying if he didn't committ this weekend it was a ba sign and you would be changing your stance on where he ends up.

And no, he was never going to committ this weekend, those who thought that were wrong and I tried to explain that.

He very well could be a silent, but he's still going to take his remaining visit, and he's still going to announce on ESPN, that's always been the plan.

Maybe I'm just being a Tennessee fan here, but I'm having some reservations....
People react in a lot of different ways when they meet a high character kid from a high character family who believes that your word should actually mean something.
Very rare these days.
They promised Auburn a visit and they'll honor the promise.
They'll announce after the final visit as they've been saying all along.
Austin's a VOL.

I didn't say anything close to that. I said if he leaves Knoxville without a committment, then things aren't as cinched up as some people have made them sound. I never said that it was a bad thing for UT, because UT could still land him.

As for a silent commit, that and two bucks can get the coaching staff a cup of coffee. A kid that's locked up doesn't leave his OV without committing, and vice versa. That was my only point.

I can personally assure you that's not true, I've known people who have given the staff a verbal, but finished the process.

Yes, it is true. Someone may have verballed, but if they're still taking visits and listening to opposing coaches, then anything can happen.

Jarnell Stokes told the Memphis staff he was committing in mid 2011. We all saw how that turned out.

"What seems more concerning to the elder Nichols though is how he fits in with a specific school's scheme. Some concerns were raised last week when he publicly expressed some doubt about whether the Vols' motion offense was the best fit for his son.

Those concerns were addressed aggressively by the Tennessee coaching staff this weekend.

"Coach Martin talked to us a lot about how Austin would fit in with what they do offensively," Mark Nichols said. "I felt a lot better about things after the visit. I think some of the concerns I've had about the offense were probably based more on what they've had from a personnel standpoint and coach Martin showed us, with Austin's skill set, how he would work in the system and some different things he would do that they maybe haven't been able to do in the past."

How when they did not have room for him. Maybe if his situation was normal and had room for him he may have gone to Memphis, but again different circumstances than most recruits.

This was mid-2011.

I understand that. Just saying him getting in that situation is what changed everything, while you can say things change between when a player says they are going to X school and when they sign, his situation was very unique and Nichols family is not one to take decision lightly. Bottom line, it's as close to done deal as it gets when decision is made.

I'm not following, what is this in reference to?

Nichols enjoyed his visit to UT Was given the full tour. Was in the locker room pregame, got to meet peyton ect.

Will take last visit to Aurburn then he will wrap it up

Doesn't have an exact date set. Might do it a week after the Auburn Visit.

After he decides family will give him 72 hours to pray about it and sleep on it because its a life long decision..

His 72 hours is already up. He'll honor his promise to one of his coaches to visit auburn.

There's a huge Person in their lives called the Holy Spirit....they want what every person should want for their son...and that's to be completely prayed up and completely in tune to God's will for Austin....For the practicing Christians among us this is NO surprise...I did it for my daughter on HUGE decisions like this...actually I would have been surprised if Mark didnt make him wait....So nothing new here WHAT SO EVERY!!!

God gave us mortals (Austin, me, you, everyone else) FREE Will. Not His will. It's called choice. Know the difference. That's why St. Peter exists at the gates. Live your life with your choices... we'll see how you did in the end. Hence, God is like any good parent about major decisions. Your choice, take it seriously... and if you F'up, I'll still support you.

Yeah. Trooper is for sure not concerned with basketball right now. Watching Auburn get owned by Texas A&M aint a bad way to spend your Saturday.
