Austin Price Comments About Lance Heard

I hate that this whole conversation is happening. Some Internet rumors, with no verifiable source, are just being amplified. That's unfair to a young man who's working harder than most of us can imagine to play for a team we support. When someone does something wrong, skewer them. When there's a rumor someone has done something wrong, wait for the facts before becoming part of the rumor mill. Just my two cents - probably worth about that much.
Agree with you. Also, if there is nothing to the rumors, AP should clean up those interview comments.

Glad to hear it’s not an NIL issue. Injuries can heal but relationships can be forever.
My previous comment about OTH speaking about it being Heard’s contract was based on them and other comments on social media. The reason will become obvious soon.
He will be healthy and playing against Ark, or he will be in Knoxville at game time.
Believe LWS above all others. Guy is money in the bank with his info. He won’t put it out if it’s not true.

To add further to your point, we will not be facing a defensive front remotely close to what we saw last Saturday when we play Arkansas. Through 4 games they're 57th in total defense and have given up 1300 yards after playing a horrible FCS team, Auburn (27th in total offense), OK State (63rd in total offense), and UAB (84th in total offense). We will statistically be the best offense and defense they've played by a long shot and it won't be close. If we play a B- to A- level of game I think we should blow them out. Oklahoma State picked their secondary apart all day for over 300 yards.

I'll also edit to add FBS offenses are averaging almost 400 yards a game against them.
I believe Doneiko Slaughter was called for two PI penalties that cost Arkansas badly against OK State.

I advise a lot of you guys to not just immediately believe this rumor about him holding out for NIL and then also spreading said rumor around. This fanbase is great, but we also have a lot of chronically online psychos who will tweet at players and recruits over every little thing, and I don't think we need to put this thought into those people's minds before we know for sure what's going on
Well what do you know... I wish people would stop trying to bring negativity to what is a great season.

Sounds like we have a bunch of a newer members commenting here. If @LWSVOL and @Stoerner Fumbles say something, you can pretty much take it to the bank. Long term, reliable posters
It’s cool to question guys like AP, Eric Cain and Matt Ray, you k no one guys that cover TN for a living. They don’t know jack. But two posters on VN know everything 🙄🙄

Our sports writers don’t lie, to my knowledge, but they report what the coaches tell them, which is sometimes misleading to gain a competitive advantage. LWS may not be as connected as he used to be but he still hears rumblings from inside the program occasionally. Rumblings that coaches or the AD may prefer to stay inside the program.

They are all reliable sources IMO. You just have to understand where their information comes from and take it all with a grain of salt because sometimes things change.

Heard will be falling down future NFL draft boards until he puts something on tape.
Heupel himself said that he's expect to play against Arkansas. Have you guys sprained an ankle before? It hurts like hell for 4-8 weeks and putting any strain on it makes it worse. Not to mention the strain of 300 pounders running full speed at you while you try to drive them back. Injuries happen, let's let the kid rehab so he's full go for Bama Florida and Georgia.

OTH sports talked about Heard missing the Ok game. They basically said it was NIL and he wanted to renegotiate this mid-season.
Hooker said no way should CJH give in and Caleb said they should. Definitely the younger generations think an agreement / contract means nothing. I’m old, so I say cut bait and let him go now and cut his NIL now.
Let me just say this without mincing words Caleb Calhoun is one of the biggest POS’s in media that covers Tennessee. Always FOS and completely ill informed. Remember this is the guy that said the state of Tennessee made a severe mistake in filing a suit against the NCAA. You can go through a lot of his reports and see how stupid he is. Vultures like these people make money off people dumb enough to give them attention and clicks. They generate stories off rumors that hurt the program and slander the athletes and coaches.

Does he still use that obnoxious click bait website format. As in top 5-10 lists where you have to click to load each entry?

He's a decent Vol historian, but I agree with you. I don't trust him for anything current.

I enjoyed listening to that female co host that Dave Hooker had on his show in the past.

I mentioned in another thread. I saw on some Facebook page that he was able, but was holding out for more NIL. I'm not saying that's gospel, but I did read it, and it could be completely false. I'd just wondered if anyone else heard anything when I mentioned it.
Nothing says reliable source like Facebook.

The guy used to write for Fansided. AtoZ Sports is a more prestigious gig than that black hole of brain cells.

Anyone could write for Fansided. All you need is a talent for creating slideshows.

This is what I heard as well and from a very reliable source. I don’t like it at all but surely 4 weeks is enough time to get his ankle fully healthy
One word you will never hear from CJH when it concerns injuries is the word WILL.
As in, a certain player WILL or WILL NOT play.
He will say that he “expects“ someone to play. That’s a waffle word, though.
You also will never hear him describe in detail the exact nature of an injury.
He will just say things like: “he’s a little banged up”, ”he’s just dealing with a few things that need to be cleaned up”, .
He might generally locate an injury by saying upper body, or lower body but that’s about it.
He‘s very old school about this subject in wanting to keep personnel info close to the vest as long as he can.

The new SEC disclosure policy has changed that a little.
starting Wednesdays and up until Gameday, he must use 1 of 5 words to describe players.
Those words are: Available, Probable, Questionable, Doubtful, Out.
If the SEC deems that Coaches are not being honest with these words, they can be fined.
Now how in the heck they can determine that without a “doctors note” from each team, I have no idea.
And even with that, a team doctor would always back up what their coach said.

*Reminder..this is all about college football becoming more popular to gamblers who insist on more reliable injury information.*

Which is why I have zero problem with coach potentially misleading the public with regard to a player’s availability. Fug ‘em.

In all fairness, I watched that game and both teams were trying to give it away with costly penalties. It was one of the sloppiest games I've seen in a while. OK State could have sealed it in regulation then their QB did the finger gun motion to the Arkansas sideline after a big play and got called for taunting lol.

Nothing real new about it, in the 80’s they listed a injury report every week as well. You could find it in the newspaper. GBO

You are right about it being a sloppy game on both sides. The taunting penalty was unreal and so uncalled for.

I don't know why all the uproar About Heard.. He has a sprained ankle and did not the tripd there is where he should have been. We won the game and covered the spread. What Hopefully he will be available for Arkansas, but if he isn't, we will till play and win. We need him against Bama and Florida and we need he healthy. If he needs more time, so be it. I remember when I has an ankle problem and I was out for 5 weeks and to was tightly wrapped for another month. Today , my injury. would have required surgery.
