Austin Price Comments About Lance Heard

Eric Cain of VQ/Locked On Vols was also specifically asked on this mornings mailbag show about Heard being NIL related....as LSW and others have also said, there is NO problem involving his NIL
Glad to hear it’s not an NIL issue. Injuries can heal but relationships can be forever.
My previous comment about OTH speaking about it being Heard’s contract was based on them and other comments on social media. The reason will become obvious soon.
He will be healthy and playing against Ark, or he will be in Knoxville at game time.

LSW says it's not true, and I take his word for it
I know absolutely nothing, but my guess is these NIL contracts are structured in a way where it is over the course of time that the player is expected to be at the school. I would also guess there is a clause in the contract to where a player can open up negotiations after a season has already been played, but with the original signed NIL agreement he is contractually obligated to perform the contract in the initial season of said contract. I would have to think these deals would protect the programs from, say, a European style strike by a player. If a player is looking to amend his contract, it would have to wait until after the season that is already in progress. These NIL deals surely can’t be one sided as it would be foolish and chaotic for programs.

What OU was able to do in the 4th is honestly being largely overestimated. The DB's were playing soft coverage giving up the short routes. Maybe I was mistaken although it looked like they had 3rd string DL guys in as well. Looked to me like CJH was fine letting them put together a few drives just to burn time. I do think the field conditions played a good part on why we shut the offense down. He didn't feel like they could put together enough offense to really be a threat in the time left.

As far as AR goes. I think they are decent so you cannot just cruise into the game. Although I think UT is in a different tier than AR.
I agree. I went back and watched every snap from the time Hawkins entered the game with a little over 1 minute left in the first half. He had 40 plays over 7 possessions.

1st Drive - 3 plays punt all 3 plays rushed 4
2nd Drive - 3 plays punt all 3 plays rushed 4
3rd Drive - 5 plays punt 1st play was a TN penalty resulting in 15 yards all 4 plays rushed 4
4th Drive - 5 plays punt 4 plays rushed 4 1 play rushed 5 resulting in a 16 yard sack
5th Drive (TD) - 10 play aided by a roughing the passer. 8 of the plays rushed 4 2 plays rushed 3. You could see that the rush wasn't being aggressive as they didn't even put pressure on the qb.
6th Drive - 4 plays turnover on downs 3 plays rushed 4 1 play rushed 5 for a 7 yard sack.
7th Drive (TD) - 9 plays 6 plays rushed 4 2 plays rushed 3 1 play rushed 5( 4th and 2 that flag was thrown) Again on this drive the D line wasn't being aggressive other than the 4th and 2 play. 1st 2 plays of the drive resulted in 62 yards passing when on the 2nd play the receiver went for 46. The defender on that play slipped to allow the catch.

Stoerner Fumbles has been right alot over the last few years. He's one of the handful of people who post here who appear to have legit info they don't parrot from pay sites. Also, his news is sometimes good, sometimes bad, and sometimes neutral, which is a mark of having a real source.
I think Stoerner gets his info from common sense more than 'sources'. But you'd have to ask him that. When you've been around a while its not that hard to read the tealeaves.

I have been around awhile, and he has definitely had some valid pre-public info before.
Like I said ask him but I feel like he is just a guy that knows UT football and has a working brain. Not saying he does not have sources, I have no idea. We all have 'sources' the talent is sifting through those sources and knowing whats good info and whats not. Volnation is a source as is ESPN... in some weird ways even twitter and facebook 'can' be sources.. but all sources aren't good sources and al good sources are not good all the time.

Or overestimating them. They abused a bad FCS team to distort their stats. Last week against Auburn they had 334 yds. Auburn at #62 nationally appears to be the "best" D they've faced. In the previous week, Auburn gave up about 450 yds to New Mexico. UAB is actually ranked 40th in total D but their other opponents were ULM and Alcorn St. Oklahoma State is currently ranked 126th out of 134 teams in total D. They really haven't stopped anyone.

Don't overlook Arkansas. They are potentially dangerous. But also don't pretend they've played a D even in the same universe as UT.

To add further to your point, we will not be facing a defensive front remotely close to what we saw last Saturday when we play Arkansas. Through 4 games they're 57th in total defense and have given up 1300 yards after playing a horrible FCS team, Auburn (27th in total offense), OK State (63rd in total offense), and UAB (84th in total offense). We will statistically be the best offense and defense they've played by a long shot and it won't be close. If we play a B- to A- level of game I think we should blow them out. Oklahoma State picked their secondary apart all day for over 300 yards.

I'll also edit to add FBS offenses are averaging almost 400 yards a game against them.

He's literally said he has a source before, during the last coaching search, one was a roommate or an old roommate or something that was involved with UT. And he was dishing correct information, before it was public.

Source? Link?
I’ve learned that When Heupel uses the word “expects” it is not the same definition that I have of that word.
No disrespect to Coach but I don’t believe anything he says about player injuries and hopefully our opponents are equally confounded.

We signed three 4 star OL last year and two of them were early enrollees and might be ready if needed…it’s unfortunate that Umarov from the 2023 class got hurt but Larry Johnson is ready…the OL will play better next week - they will use the Oklahoma game as a learning experience

I never saw any update on Umarov. Does anyone know what the injury is for him and if there is a timetable for him to return?

Based on what??
All the massive plays he's made against top competition so far??
Have you seen Davis play at LT? Nico won’t make it to the playoffs if we don’t figure that out. I’m not saying Heard is the only answer there but he seems to be the most obvious one.

Really wish we could put “not nil related” in the title before more morons post their opinions on this kids character.

I think he’s probably the best we have right now. Possibly you could slide Campbell back over; idk how limiting his knees are right now. Johnson possibly could be an option? I think one thing we can safely say is the staff likely thought Heard was the best option in the off season based on the NIL deal we gave him.

I hate that this whole conversation is happening. Some Internet rumors, with no verifiable source, are just being amplified. That's unfair to a young man who's working harder than most of us can imagine to play for a team we support. When someone does something wrong, skewer them. When there's a rumor someone has done something wrong, wait for the facts before becoming part of the rumor mill. Just my two cents - probably worth about that much.
