Avery Strickland

Not wanting to jinx things, but ala Wynn, injuries happen.

What I am saying is that there is one player on the list who is correctly a walk-on and I am sure a great teammate but she is not at the level and not likely to ever get there. (Would not shock me if she transfers after big sis is done).

Strickland is a legit player, albeit a role player but if the team had to rely in her more, she could hold her own.

I am not making any claims beyond that.

Since Wells is still getting minutes ! Then an injury (red shirt) is not in her plans! Edie as a walk on …. I don’t see a need for her to go anywhere for one year ? So there are 12 scholarship players for 25-26….. Giving us 3 possibilities for portal players to add this summer ? And 4 Seniors graduating next year… at least 4 spots for 26 recruits plus 3 potential portal players ( depending on their years of eligibility)? I hope I didn’t confuse anyone?
What makes this even more interesting is the 5th year do we even use the portal if u can bring spencer hollingshed and spear back correct me if im wrong on spear.....absolutely loaded roster next year if thats the case

Compares with other teams bringing back their seniors. No advantage gained except losses to wnba

I think Mia starts and Copper at the 2

Certainly could, I was just trying to visualize it and see how it looked for Strickland. To me, it will be her vs Hurst for significant minutes. She appears to have a decision to make...

1. Dedicate herself to be better than a very talented true freshman with a similar game to her own and rake in decent NIL as a LV.
2. Make a lateral transfer and still risk not getting PT. Other teams will not rotate as much as we do. Like, would she for sure start for Vandy??? (just as an example)
3. Transfer down for more PT but give up whatever amount of NIL she is receiving.

All three players are out of eligibility after this season. This is Jewel’s Covid fifth season. Jillian and Samara were freshmen in fall 2021, so they do not qualify for the Covid year. Only student-athletes that were on a spring sport roster in March 2020 or a fall/winter sport roster for the 2020-21 school year qualify for the Covid extra year.

I think the fifth year Referenced above is related to the potential fifth year being considered by the NCAA.

Interesting….. The Dad , upset at UT ? His daughter is getting a degree from Vanderbilt!
If it was my daughter? If it was your daughter? I wouldn’t care if she played another minute and got a degree from Vanderbilt! YES !!!! 👍
Vanderbilt does not offer a degree in Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport Studies or Outdoor Recreation and Park Management. So, she is missing out on those opportunities. 🤪
