As an ADS-B observer I would just like to share I finally seen for two days in a row refueling at 27000ft. I was surprised cause yesterday it was only showing a registered KC-46 flying over, but to my surprise he was refueling a C17. It happen again today with a KC135. The KC135 was showing on radar but was refueling another C17 not showing on ADS. (This is North Georgia)
That area may be a refueling track. We have a couple in our airspace that are used a couple times of week for training.
Is she growing the Devil’s Lettuce? I think they are used in conjunction with a drug task force. My daughter just sent me this picture. She's says it just landed in a park near her.

My daughter's significant other's dad is a park ranger who lives in one of the state parks. He said it was part of a drug task force. Is she growing the Devil’s Lettuce? I think they are used in conjunction with a drug task force.
Never flown it, but I hate that helicopter. Airbus was awarded the no bid contract and I think there was proof that Gen Cody was either paid off amor owned stock in the company, can’t remember which. So the Army places something like a 200 aircraft order worth billions to replace the scout helicopter at the time. Turns out it’s not even a deployable aircraft. Avionics couldn’t withstand the Middle East climate if I’m not mistaken. So now they change direction and decide to implement it as the new initial training helicopter for army aviators. Dumbest thing ever. Fairly complex, incredibly expensive, and a maintenance nightmare. Airbus doubly effed our government by somehow getting it in the contract that most Mx has to be contracted out and can’t be done by service personnel.
The plastic princess costs three times what an initial trainer, probably twice or more expensive to operate, and can’t even do touchdown auto rotations or run on landings.
Everyone knows him by name in our area lol. We have an inside source and have heard that too, about turning himself in.Infamous, huh? I’m not really sure how that is going to go yet. I’m hardly a completely by the book guy, but I’ve heard he turns in or ATSAPs everything, including himself.
He’s a strange guy, that’s for sure. Tried to bring his sugar glider into work in his pocket once. His excuse was an emotional support animal, I’ve heard.Everyone knows him by name in our area lol. We have an inside source and have heard that too, about turning himself in.
What sector are you going to keep currency on?
That is an absolutely wild story. Crazy the things people do in this job. He’s a strange guy, that’s for sure. Tried to bring his sugar glider into work in his pocket once. His excuse was an emotional support animal, I’ve heard.
They wanted me to get checked out as quickly as possible because staffing has been critical, so just Impel for now. Once I get certified on the desk, the plan is to go back and get PXV once staffing allows. I’ve never done descend vias or I would’ve probably just asked for them both off the bat.
Everyone used to joke that our area one was the “country club,” but damn if I didn’t run into a buzz saw my first few shifts on the floor. I got two problems in the lab and then immediately stepped into radar at a red sector. Wednesday and Thursday were both pretty busy. Friday died off a little. I’ve noticed their weekend morning shifts are super slow, though.
Our lab was crazy backed up. It was going to take a couple weeks to work me in, but I just took a day and ran radar during a D Sides additionals. It was pocket/impel combined and I was just winging it on spacing and descend vias. I figured 5 miles was 5 miles, but I probably should’ve had a better feel for sector numbers and frequencies before getting back in there. I kept them apart, though. That is an absolutely wild story. Wow, we just got a new supe who was a controller across the aisle and he ran a whole week of problems. I’ll be curious what you think of the job once you get settled in. Where do you all issue descend via into?
The new SDF stuff is still taking some getting used to. I’ve heard that about BNA as well. The FORKS transition is going to get backed up into 84’s airspace I believe. Our lab was crazy backed up. CVG and IND by PXV. SDF by EVV. They are saying we will be the ones to do BNA once the redesign happens.
Any other controllers stand out for better or worse in our area?
Do you all have an OK? I thought those initials were prohibited.
So far no issues at all with your group. ELVIS and Tings have handed me a couple piles of poo already. We just got a transfer from that area. Hopefully he’s better than his counterparts down there. The new SDF stuff is still taking some getting used to. I’ve heard that about BNA as well. No, no OK here. I don’t think we even have anyone that starts with an O. No one really complains about you all except for getting turned in by the one individual. It’s always been a good relationship I think. If you’re working weekends I trained about half of that group, so feel free to blame me if things ever go sideways.
