I'll take that as 'no I don't have any knowledge which refutes the point'. No biggie. Was it clear to others? Do I really need to say those posters name who would take that quote out of context and run with it. You guys realize how this board operates and the ppl who continually drive negative crap to get reactions, but yet call out the person not wanting that to happen…
In THIS CASE I am GUESSING his decision was in part because JP was getting a higher percentage of 5 minutes down the stretch. That and a healthy Phillips for post minutes too.If you were a player with Awaka's talent and was not getting the playing time you wanted, would you not want to transfer somewhere you could have the opportunity to claymore minutes or even maybe start, what would you do? Few athletes would stay rather than transfer, especially if the HIL was higher. If I am a basketball player, I want to play basketball, not sit on the bench.
This is a big assumption on your part as JP has shown nothing except potential in his very limited minutes this season. I’m optimistic on JP, but realize it’s just hopeful optimism at this point. I predict we will sorely miss Tobe in a few games next season - at least I know I will miss watching him play.Maybe he wanted more NIL $ and Barnes was seeing Estrella as the one getting more minuets and $ next season. He can stay in the game longer and can score.
I like his game, but he likely would have average 7 minutes more a game if he didn't consistently pick up two quick fouls. Rick is very rigid on sitting you with foul trouble. If you were a player with Awaka's talent and was not getting the playing time you wanted, would you not want to transfer somewhere you could have the opportunity to claymore minutes or even maybe start, what would you do? Such a bad take. WOW. He has every right to pursue his dream where he wants to. Sorry some fans get so emotional about it.
I guess I’m different. I would listen to a HOF coach and his assistants that know more than me you and Awaka. He has improved dramatically and I guess the coaches don’t deserve any credit or consideration. I don’t believe there’s any collective out there willing to throw substantially more money at him than TN’s. If it’s more playing time then earn it. Lastly, there was nothing emotional about my response. It could be as simple as him wanting to be closer to home since he's seen very little of his parents the last couple of yearsI guess I’m different. If it is NIL money, we should not accept this without an all-out effort to re-recruit him. He has two more years of eligibility. I prefer him over Aidoo. Aidoo folded in the NCAA. Awaka can score and rebound. Don't calmly accept this without putting up a fight. He is a gamer, and he can learn not to foul.Hit the weight room Aidoo.
I'd like to think he can, too, but his career is half over and he hasn't learned, yet. And that won't change with a simple jersey swap to another school. So, whoever is paying him is likely not buying significantly more production than he's had at Tennessee if he doesnt rein it in. His ability didn't keep him off the floor. His lack of defensive discipline did.If it is NIL money, we should not accept this without an all-out effort to re-recruit him. He has two more years of eligibility. I prefer him over Aidoo.
