On the War Room last night they said there’s a very real possibility that Awaka comes back now that Aidoo is leaving. I know people kind of laughed that off, but it said that the door is open for his return. They also said him entering the portal wasn’t about money it was more about minutes, so now with Aidoo out of the way that leaves the door open for him to start at the 5.

I’ll take the Aidoo for Awaka trade all day long. I sure hope Tobe returns.

I do find it odd teammates evidently don’t have a better grasp of what each other are going to do when it comes to the transfer stuff. If Awaka knew Aidoo was hitting the portal then he may not have ever entered himself.

There has been talk that Aidoo hasn’t been very communicative since the season ended and that Aidoo and Awaka weren’t exactly best buddies

Is it realistic to have all 12 scholarship players be best buds? I would think that’s highly unlikely myself and can’t imagine someone hitting the portal because they didn’t care for one of their teammates. If Aidoo rubbed Tobe too badly, he’d be in line for a potential beat down if he pushed too hard.

I really hope Awaka decides to come back and be a Volunteer.He plays with more passion than Aidoo imo and I hated to see Aidoo leave.I wonder though if Awakas decision had some to do with playing closer to home so family could attend his games. I had heard that his parents weren’t able to see him play since he’s been in Knoxville.

I was just responding to a comment about why Awaka and Aidoo didn't seem to know what one another were doing in regards to the portal, not saying that was the reason they hit the portal

Agree as preferable but not necessary. Houston had the best defense in the country with a frontcourt of 6'8 / 245 lbs and 6'7 / 235 lbs and very aggressive guards. Zeigler and Mashack would be the best defensive backcourt in the country if paired together. Awaka and Estrella or Phillips I think could work well together. Estrella has length and Phillips has some bounce.

I hope he comes back as well. He much like Zeigler and Mashack provide a competitive drive that is hard to measure but you can see it when they are on the court, even when they make mistakes.

Awaka comes back and let Aidoo walk.

Come back Tobe!! You can co-exist with Igor Milicic Jr (if we get him) given his ability to shoot from perimeter. You can man the middle, we will surround you with shooters and Igor will help you on the defensive glass and defending bigs. Estrella and Phillips will be another year bigger and ready to contribute.

College basketball still has room for guys like "The Big Nasty" Corliss Williamson.
