They saved you from a lot of anguish lolI’m by no means an insider but I posted a month ago in the baseball forum that I had heard rumors Chase Burns was unhappy and wanting to transfer and my post got deleted, so the one time in my life when I had legit info, it was deleted . My run at being an insider ended before it started.
Started getting the Sunday edition of KNS in 1980. Living about 100 miles north of Memphis we would get very little coverage of the previous day’s game.USA Today the next day for the BIG signings KNS for the future core of your Vols.
Growing up in Chattanooga, the Times-Free Press had pretty good Vol coverage (and color pics at the time). Our library would have the latest edition of KNS and when I really revved up my interest in recruiting in 1986, it became my go to. It’s not the same nowadays.Started getting the Sunday edition of KNS in 1980. Living about 100 miles north of Memphis we would get very little coverage of the previous day’s game.
Still have my copy of the Sugar Vols and ’98 National Championship.
As a youngster, my favorite memories of Vols games are walking to the stadium buying a Journal, with the lineups. All the smells of hotdog, popcorn, Jack Daniels, and cigarrette smoke milling about. The energy in that building. Old people with AM/FM radio doodads over their ears and binoculars to see the play. Ohhh, John Ward...Started getting the Sunday edition of KNS in 1980. I grew up in Mt. Juliet, but moved to Chatt-town for college in '99, and I feel like I came in on the tail end of when the Times-Free Press was good at Vol coverage like you're referencing. I agree, it's just not anywhere near what it used to be.Growing up in Chattanooga, the Times-Free Press had pretty good Vol coverage (and color pics at the time). We do close….. not all five stars but 94 or better rating….. Nico, Hobbs, Carter, Seldon, Bradley, Davis, and Matthews…. We won’t get everyone but recruiting is getting better every single season like it should.
You are so correct. The coverage of Tennessee in Chattanooga use to be fantastic. Despite the city being so close to the Ga, Al state lines . I use to love hearing all the dawg and tide fans complain about local coverage of their teams not being as good as it was on Tennessee.Growing up in Chattanooga, the Times-Free Press had pretty good Vol coverage (and color pics at the time). - Matt RayI can assure you that’s not the case here. Our reiteration that TN is in it more than most think is simply because they are coming out of the visit. We’ve shot it as straightforward as we can on this one. At this point, I don’t know where he is going, and I’m not sure anyone outside of the family circle does this morning. That could change leading in, but he still had not told anyone anything official as of last night. Arizona has moved into the Oregon category of feeling like the safest bet, but in these old school recruitments, who knows?
