Development is how you get to the NFL. Not to mention if the average career is only the length of a rookie deal, wouldn’t you want to go as high as possible and better developed in college for a higher chance of success, as well as larger rookie deal?
In 2023, The #5 draft pick went to Illinois, #7 went to T. Tech. I doubt either player goes any higher at Ala, Ga or TN.
In 2022, the #4 Draft pick played at Cincy, BColl had another top 20 draft pick, N. Iowa had the #19 pick. After you get outside of the top 8 -10 picks, the average rookie salary is the name. The #11 pick 3.2 mill a year, #20 got 2.6 mill a year, #26 got 2.4 mill a year. Would Illinoi's DB have gone higher at Ala or Ga. Highly doubt it. The top 4 were 3 QB's an an edge rusher. As I noted, the only reason for choosing a school shouldn't be just to get drafted. A DB or OG can go to I'll or Cincy and be top 5 picks in the draft. Pick schools for other reasons than JUST getting to the NFL. If you are a top 5 1st rd pick, you will go then just about at any school.
