I thought they were saying McCain had to defend the right to run for president? Which he did. It's almost worse of the people who looked into that than the birthers.

No one was questioning Obama's birth because of his skin color. They were questioning it because it was in doubt. They were questioning it based on the assertion that family members reported him being born in Kenya.

I certainly didn't even care that he was liberal or that it would be a convenient way of getting him out. I cared because the governing and supreme law of our land says someone must be a natural born citizen. I would say the same if he were conservative.

Yeah. It is. Obama kept suspicions going by refusing to release his birth records. That fact is still difficult to understand.

McCain never denied he was born in Panama and to his credit left it to others to determine his eligibility. He made it a non-issue very quickly. Obama kept it an issue.

It is outside the US. He never denied that. He let others decide whether being born in a US territory was sufficient. Obama refused to turn over proof of his birthplace for years while claiming to have been born in Hawaii... while others said there was testimonies of him being born elsewhere.

Can you explain why he would not just put the issue to bed as soon as it was raised?

Why would he feel the need to release his records? He's American, and he beat the dogs*#% out of the other Americans who ran in '08. Just because a few racists were scared of having a black president is no reason to release birth records.. I think it would only be fair for everyone who questions his birth records to present their own.
