If you would read the thread, I do not hold a negative opinion of Fulmer. I appreciate all he did for this university and all the hard work he put in. He failed at the end of his tenure. There is no disputing that. Idk why everyone is so pissedI simply cant understand why you would still hold such a negative opinion about Fulmer. You were obviously too young to enjoy the run in the 90's leading up to the NC, if you were not you would still appreciate his massive contribution to the program. Yes, he fell off at the end, those facts are not in dispute, but on balance the man did so much good for UT that your comments simply come off as ignorant and childish.

Actually, yes this can be disputed. He had a couple of losing seasons......he did not fail. I thought it was time for him to leave too, because I felt it was time for a change. Phil Fulmer did not fail at UT. Derek Dooley failed at UT, but Phil Fulmer did not.
Fulmer was on Ainge's new show this morning and they were discussing Randy Samders. Fulmer said he tried to talk Randy into taking the ETSU HC job. That it was an interesting nugget.
I guess Sanders was still QB coach at that time but I can't imagine ETSU pays much better than FSU pays the QB coach. Certainly not a co-OC.
Some heavy duty revisionist history right there.Fulmer has his reasons for being disliked and for Tennessee fans it would start with 1992. Johnny Majors being pushed out the door by the next head football coach. Next to Neyland himself, no one was more the face or fan favorite of vol football than Majors. The original Johnny football has no illusions to this day of the character flaws that Fulmer processes and that lead to his sudden demise as HC after heart surgery.

You don't have to be a Fulmerite to see the flaws and overdone view from that post. Based on his username, Imy seeing a still angry Bammer that blames Fulmer for Bama's previous transgressions
The Fulmerites also take every opportunity to bash Majors... because they know. They know and are in denial.
BTW, the Fulmerites mainly patrol the Football Forum. It will take a little bit longer for the **** to get stirred in Around the NCAA.

That a 9-3 record would go down as one of the most tumultuous campaigns of Tennessee football? Or that the aura of Johnny Majors in Tennessee had only one equal - General Robert Neyland?
Majors was just trying to get back to what he loved most. "Attack, attack, attack" is the mantra Majors knew best. Unfortunately, for Majors, Fulmer did his best work away from the camera.
