Are you serious? The Lakers are one of the worst teams in the league and Dallas hasn't won a playoff game in forever. And I don't even like baseball. If I was a bandwagon fan wouldn't I root for the Heat and the Seahawks. Smh.

Lakers/Cowboys are all switching to Heat/Seahawks.

I simply cant understand why you would still hold such a negative opinion about Fulmer. You were obviously too young to enjoy the run in the 90's leading up to the NC, if you were not you would still appreciate his massive contribution to the program. Yes, he fell off at the end, those facts are not in dispute, but on balance the man did so much good for UT that your comments simply come off as ignorant and childish.

If you think Fulmer is a failure then that would mean there are hardly any coaches ever that weren't failures. And that's just stupid.

If you would read the thread, I do not hold a negative opinion of Fulmer. I appreciate all he did for this university and all the hard work he put in. He failed at the end of his tenure. There is no disputing that. Idk why everyone is so pissed

Actually, yes this can be disputed. He had a couple of losing seasons......he did not fail. I thought it was time for him to leave too, because I felt it was time for a change. Phil Fulmer did not fail at UT. Derek Dooley failed at UT, but Phil Fulmer did not.

Why was it time for him to leave? Why was it time for a change?

I feel bad for Fulmer...this will be the second program he has been a part of that will fail. Miserably.

Show some respect. It was time for a coaching change....and I supported that. But Phil Fulmer bleeds orange and always will. He is a VFL.

Hall of fame, national championship, millionaire, good family, I hope I can fail.

He was getting passed over by the new wave of SEC coaches. The year before he was fired we went to (and nearly won) the SEC championship. Despite having two bad seasons in his last four I wouldnt call him a failure.

Fulmer was on Ainge's new show this morning and they were discussing Randy Samders. Fulmer said he tried to talk Randy into taking the ETSU HC job. That it was an interesting nugget.

I guess Sanders was still QB coach at that time but I can't imagine ETSU pays much better than FSU pays the QB coach. Certainly not a co-OC.

Torbush makes just under $250k after everything. Sanders is currently making $580k.

Fulmer has his reasons for being disliked and for Tennessee fans it would start with 1992. Johnny Majors being pushed out the door by the next head football coach. Next to Neyland himself, no one was more the face or fan favorite of vol football than Majors. The original Johnny football has no illusions to this day of the character flaws that Fulmer processes and that lead to his sudden demise as HC after heart surgery.

Some heavy duty revisionist history right there.

Be prepared for an Attack of the Fulmerites. Fulmerino put a spell on them.

You don't have to be a Fulmerite to see the flaws and overdone view from that post. Based on his username, Imy seeing a still angry Bammer that blames Fulmer for Bama's previous transgressions

The Fulmerites are the most persistent. Bammers can now just point to the scoreboard and the trophy case. Fulmer is becoming a distant unpleasant memory for those necks.

The Fulmerites also take every opportunity to bash Majors... because they know. They know and are in denial.

BTW, the Fulmerites mainly patrol the Football Forum. It will take a little bit longer for the **** to get stirred in Around the NCAA.

You're missing the point. I'm far from a Fulmerite, but I know that post was grossly exaggerated and tweaked to only show one side.

That a 9-3 record would go down as one of the most tumultuous campaigns of Tennessee football? Or that the aura of Johnny Majors in Tennessee had only one equal - General Robert Neyland?

Majors was just trying to get back to what he loved most. "Attack, attack, attack" is the mantra Majors knew best. Unfortunately, for Majors, Fulmer did his best work away from the camera.
