Jones wasn't ranked very high coming out of high school for a Tennessee commit number 39 Hoopgurlz. The reasons now are obvious when she was evaluated they saw physical talent but not a lot of basketball skills. She has a lot of potential which may never be reached. I remember that Bjorklund and Zolman were highly ranked Bjorklund I think was the number 2 player in the nation behind Delle Donne. Her ranking had to be on basketball skills as her physical talent would not get her to number two.
The point being ratings are not always accurate. Any of the top fifty players in a class can be great players. As to Louisville their rankings were great Schimmel number 8 2011 class, Smith number 8 2012 class, Hammonds number 12 2011 class so they have top fifty players at every position and solid top 50 backups as well.

Actually Louisville may have had more talent or at least even. Izzy was a four star rated in the 40's, Burdick was number five but was way overrated she isn't in the top fifty. Simmons four star in the thirties, Massengale number three has not played to that ranking but has played well. Graves number five in class five star has been a good player.
Talent is about how a player plays not how some service had them ranked.

So Schimmel would be a five star based on play, 41 percent three point shooter 18.1 ppg, Hammond 56 percent from the field, Taylor 54 percent field goal shooter, Bria Smith five star player who we wanted hitting 51 percent from the field. Slaughter and Gibbs better than our bench players.

Schimmel vs.Simmons using statistics Schimmel wins, Hammond over Burdick, Harrison over their post, Smith vs Massengale a tie at best, Taylor vs Graves about even. So using stats you can't say we have more talent.

Three of our starting players are higher rated by services but have been outplayed statistically by Louisville players. On the court is what counts and they have been better on the court players as a team than what we have to this point.

As far as beating Louisville if every player played to their ranking it should have happened. We have players that haven't even played close to their service ranking and never will. So how good are some of our players I would rank several as three and two stars based on their play. That is what their ability should be based on not what they did in high school or what some service thought they were capable of.

anybody have a link for the Louisville vs The Lady Vols from last years Elite 8 game ?

Here is the box score. We lost the game in the first half. We seem to have a bad half in a lot of games. Louisville vs Tennessee - DI Women's Basketball | NCAA.com

We missed a load of free throws and took 24 threes hit 5 that was really bad basketball strategy. I think if we went inside on even twelve of those possessions we score on half which would give us 12 more points and the win.

You mean 6 months ago, last July? I believe Geno said only after UT apologizes. Holly then withdrew the overture "out of respect for Pat." Don't think uconn is particularly interested anyhow.

This isn't rocket science. Louisville did NOT have better players. They had a better TEAM. The Lady Vols will have more far more players from their roster drafted by the WNBA. Their shortcomings on the court reflects upon their subpar coaching....

If the players didn't develop then we have inferior talent. If their players improved then that would make them better on the court. If they are better on the court that means they are better players and is why they won the game.

Just looking at the figures I would say it is a National trend. Were still drawing over 2000 more than anybody else. 2013 NCAA Women's Basketball Attendance

Tennessee has lost a thousand or so but so has UConn down in the 8900 range this season from the 10 thousand range. We have lost no more than they have or any other school. The economy could be the major reason as all schools are down not only in women's basketball but also men's and 95 percent in football.

The secondary reason is that far more games are televised now than in the past. What you need to know is that Tennessee women's basketball is leading the nation for the 11th straight year by about 2000 fans per game. Second Tennessee Lady Vols draw more fans than 80 percent of men's basketball teams and outdraw every men's team in the SEC except Kentucky and Tennessee.

The projection for this season is for over 12000 a game as Lady Vols will draw biggest crowds to SC, Ky, and Vandy games.

The only players I see sure to be drafted by the WNBA are Harrison, Massengale,Simmons, and Graves. I doubt a couple of them make a roster. Louisville will see Schimmel, Hammonds, Henderson, and Smith drafted so that looks about even to me. I'm sure down the line Russell will be drafted but Louisville has some talented underclassmen as well.

As far as the rankings go Harrison 29, Massengale 3, Simmons 21, and Graves 5. Louisville Schimmel 8, Smith 8, Hammonds 12, and Henderson 40. So even based on the rankings the talent is not that much different.
