First of all, I want to apologize for writing a book, but I just want to share my experience. I know this is a couple of weeks old but I don't get on here as much as I used to. Anyways, A couple of weeks ago my and my buddies made the trip down to Florida. They had been to the swamp several times but it was my first time. I wasn't sure what to expect but we had a great tailgate and everyone we met was extremely nice. It wasn't even the least bit hostile... at all... We went into the game and got to our seats. We had bought 8 seats together. Well the seats were right in the corner of the endzone. The row only sat 8 people and the bench had an angle on the corner were 2 people sit. The row in front of us is exactly the same size but only sits 7. So they were a little more comfortable than us cramming 8 guys into a little row. Both my buddies sitting on each isle were repeatedly told by the police (not ushers) that if they didn't get their legs out of the isle they would have to leave. They kept bugging us while Florida fans were standing in the Isle watching the game. We were sitting hip to hip in the 90 degree heat. It was miserable. We were sitting mostly in a mix of TN fans and Florida Fans and the TN band was only like one section to our right. After we had the Pick6 we went a little wild and got really excited. The bleachers in front of me were only like 4in higher than the concrete and I stepped on them during the excitement to high five my buddies. I was immediately grabbed by the cop and told that if my foot hit the bleacher again I would be escorted out.. I was really apologetic and said Sorry 100 times. He walked off. Well in the second quarter a couple of Florida fans were standing in front of us... so naturally we stood up.. It's no big deal to me... I don't care about people standing. One of my buddies is about 6-6 250+ and was standing up next to me and this absolutely rude FL guy THREE rows up kept yelling at him saying "I WISH THAT BIG M***F***** would sit down blah blah blah and so I just about lost it and turned around and told him to just simply shutup. His reply was "what are you going to do about it" of course my hot head "I said come down here and find out" Why one guy that was 5'7" tops was trying to start a fight with 8 guys I don't think I will ever understand... Anyways.. I turn around and of course the Cop is back... With back up from a State Trooper. Surprisingly I wasn't escorted out. I think mainly because I never cussed back at the guy. But instead I was told to sit down and that if any of us stood up again we would be kicked out. There wasn't much to cheer about the rest of the game anyways but Florida fans in front of me were allowed to stand and block my view while I had to remain seated. It was complete BS.. I turned around and gave a gesture to the cop like "WTF you're gonna let these guys stand in front of me but I can't stand????" He wouldn't even acknowledge me... Even Florida fans were embarrassed by the cop acting like that towards us. That ONE guy behind us and the COP were the only A-HOLES we met the entire weekend. Florida fans were apologizing to us for them deliberately picking on us and not leaving us alone. It was just crazy.. I mean I know that kind of thing probably happens everywhere but it was just complete BS and ruined not just my experience but a lot of people around us. I guess I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience or if this just only happens to me...

You should have gotten the officers' names or badge numbers. That's ridiculous.

Yeah I was going to at the end of the game but he left before I could get it. Really surprised they only used cops not ushers... Maybe the cops were only for the TN sections.. idk

Me and a bunch of my buddys went down in 03 and when we was tailgating there were 2 cops that stayed on our case they were complete *******s they followed us around every where just tryin to find a reason to take us to jail. The cops had a NY accent that explained a lot. I personally will never go back again it was the worst away game I have ever been to. The best place to go for an away game in my opinion is GA everybody there has always been real nice even the cops. I really do hope our knoxville cops aren't like that to visiting fans because that just ruins anybodys trip. GO VOLS!

I was gonna say something to him but I knew it I would kicked out if I ask him.. He would of found a way... It was BS... If I ever win the lotto I will have a lawyer standing next to me telling the cop he is making a mistake and he will be fired... lol

Sorry to hear you ran in some a-holes. I was there and had a great time. Other than the watching of the game, that is.

If it happened exactly like you said, then that's ridiculous; I'm not calling you a liar but people tend to leave out details in accounts like this, and frankly it's just your word on a pretty anonymous messageboard.

But I do believe you for the most part because I've seen jerk ushers/cops at games before. One of the worst examples was at LP Field once when the Raiders were in town. A group of Titan fans were ragging the crap out of a lone Raider fan, baiting him, cursing at him, and as bad of a reputation that Raider fans get, he was basically trying to mind his own business. Ushers came up twice and both times all the Titan fans pointed at him and claimed he was cursing and throwing things at them. The third time they just hauled him away and didn't even ask him his side of the story. I even tried to tell one of the cops he wasn't doing anything but they didn't care.

Never once have I acted in a proper manner and received rude attitude from a cop. I here it all the time from people but not once have I had an experience where a cop was being a dick as the OP says.

gainesville and knoxville police--some of the worst in the SEC--most fans will say the same thing

Amen. Just attended my last game at LP Field due to lack of courtesy & professionalism by a security gal & cop. Neyland Stadium personnel much better!

Should have sat in the UT section. I went and had a great time. I went 2 years ago and only ran into 1 *******. Didn't run into any this time.

That's what I'm always affraid of going to away games that the fans will treat you like crap. It's sad

Every team has crappy fans, I've seen one of our fans sucker punch a Gator fan in 1998, I saw a group of Georgia fans surround a couple Vol fans and bark at them obscenely and not let them get past.

Hell, last year I saw a car full of Vol fans throw a sonic drink at an Alabama fan outside Stefano's.

It happens everywhere, but for the majority, if you're not being an obnoxious A-hole, you get left alone...

Cell Videos always encourage cops to do the right thing, most of the time. But I think I would have ask about this rule and why others was able to break it.

Got a smart phone? YouTube could be a great friend in a situation like that one.

I was there in section 47. There was a cop there that kept saying to people to sit down. Nobody listened to him. Some guy several rows above took his shirt off and he kept telling him to put his shirt on. That guy didn't listen to him either. I think it was th same guy that was escorted.
