This will be a rough game for sure. We have to use caution with bama guard Sears. He is a great player, but honestly, he gets bailed out by officials more than any player I've ever seen. He consistently drives the paint, out of control, reckless and just hurls the ball up, while driving into the defender. He gets so many foul calls in his favor. Lots of foul shots, he shouldn't get. sorry, just my opinion. I used to referee and it drives me crazy. GO VOLS !!!

Drive the paint out of control and gets the whistle, kind of like Broome did last night?

It's funny the Vols can't even get average ref performances at home. I'm not even asking for home cooking. Just asking for not being blatantly against us
The refs definitely did not have their best game last night. The whistles started off extremely late. Like 2-3 seconds after the play. There were phantom fouls that no got touched, and absolute smack downs that were not called. It was equally bad for both teams.

I do think Broome got the benefit of the doubt several times, but so did ZZ on at least two maybe three calls.

There were two that weren't called that my wife asked what is the definition of a foul? SV got tackled and slid 10 feet with no call. An Auburn player got trucked once by Awaka that wasn't called. I was amazed.

I watched the Florida-Alabama game last week and he was the beneficiary of a key foul call late. He had the dribble in his left hand, blatantly carried the ball (like three steps), then had the ball poked away from behind . . . cleanly. The officials, of course, called a foul and sent him to the line. It was very tight and Bama ended up winning in OT. Very doubtful Alabama would have been able to win without that call. It was late enough that Bama would have had to start fouling if they don't get that foul.

I know they only call a carry once every 20 games or so, but to let that one slide, then hit Florida with a foul in which I don't think there was any contact essentially decided the winner of that game. The outcome of college basketball games is affected by the officials more than any other sport I know.

I despise when a defender is standing flat footed with his arms up and the offensive player jumps into the defender, causing the contact, scores a bucket and then get a free throw. It's complete BS.

Palming the ball is never called anymore.

Running over a completely stationary player is never called anymore. Just use your butt to move the defender and never your shoulder. It will almost never be called.

Not taking up for Sears here but if he is going to get that call every time why stop. SEC BB officiating is at very low point right now.

My biggest beef with the reffing this year has been the inconsistency from the same crew before and after halftime. The zebras shouldn’t be doing any halftime adjustments unless they are starting to lose control of the game.

Last night we got jobbed on a few but also felt a few went our way as well. For example, Santi fouled that dude on the late 3 pointer. He should have been shooting three. on the other hand, the call on Knecht late in the game was ridiculous, especially after what they had been allowing all game long.

The fact of the matter is that the play is too similar in each half to have such a disparity in fouls called.

I didn’t specifically look since we ended up winning - but what was the tally in the second half?

I remember thinking that OOB call and the 3 pointer that resulted was going to cost us the game.

I’m not sure of the total, but in the first half there were 16 total fouls called. At the 11 minute mark of the 2nd half, 20 total fouls had been called.

And the official waits to see if he makes the shot before blowing the whistle

Palming is almost never called. Walking has been given a free rein as well. I counted 3 times last night where Auburn clearly walked and there was no call. It’s usually before the initial move is made, but it’s definitely shuffling,
They also not calling the “Euro-step” in many cases now.

I would say 80% of the time. I truly think referees show up with their resume’, hand it over, and the SEC says “you’re hired.” I just don’t get it. Dailey last night was laughable.

Lol getting these players ready for NBA.
NBA hasn't called walking or palming ball consistently since 1978..

This will be one of our toughest games of the season no question. However, this team is playing some good ball and we went into Rupp and won. I'd probably have it 60/40 Bama for chance of winning.

The whistles weren’t late. The refs were holograms and were calling from an undisclosed location for their safety.
