Bama game

Absolutely. There's no way we're winning this game if we're getting just, say, 8 points combined from Santi and JJJ--unless our defense
is really good.

We held them to 71 points at home and scored 91. That was damn good. I don't see holding them to 71 again--would be nice. In that game DK had 25, Aidoo 19, Santi 10---and we got 23 points combined from Gainey and Mashack! It was Gainey's best game--15 points--and Mashack with 8. Huge. What are the odds of those two scoring 23 combined again? I wouldn't bet on it. James didn't even have a basket in the game--1 point. Awaka played only 5 minutes and didn't score. I think he'll play at least 10 minutes in this game, yes? Gimme a little inside power basketball!
We got lots of support from most everyone that game and basically shut Nelson and Sears down. Sears did lots of late FT to stuff his stat sheet.
Shack brought out his best defensive effort, But still offer up that JJ, Santiago, Gainey, Awaka have to step up and DK, ZZ, & Jonas have to do as they normally do. Criminal Tide have only lost once at the prison in two years. It will challenge us!

I don't know why but I feel good about this game. While coming off an emotional win at home and driving down to an explosive team who doesn't lose at their home much is potentially ripe for a "let down", for some reason I trust this UT team. DK carried us to a win against Auburn and I think this group, particularly as the underdog can come into this venue and play very good basketball as a group. Barnes should be telling them every 10 minutes that they are the underdog and no one expects them to take this away game. Easy to stay focused, prove everyone wrong and walk out with the best position of winning the SEC.

We can run with Bama so their style of play doesn't frighten me and Bama still won't consistently play defense over an extended period of time. We not going to give up on the big lineup with Aidoo and Awaka, which Bama didn't see in Knoxville when we blew them out. I think we can punish them in the paint. While they have an excellent offense, they really don't have post presence as Nelson is more of a stretch, so as long as we continue to run them off the 3 pt line and make them shoot contested 2's, that is how we defend them. If someone can please remind our guys not to go for every pump fake at the 3 pt line in advance I would appreciate it.

The key to this game IMO is the first four minutes of each half, and not allowing them any big momentum runs. Barnes needs to use TO's smartly, not letting any runs snowball. Force them into a half court game and run them off the 3 pt. line, and we win. I know we like to run and play with a fast pace, but I wouldn't mind seeing some slower tempo, using the clock a bit, and pound them in the paint, but run when the opportunity is there.

LOl, I love how sports animal radio today is talking about how bama players flop and get calls from the officials every game. something Rick Barnes should definitely address before the game. But then again, we are playing in bama, Espn crew there. the set up is in place. espn hates us. ( I know, I know) I truly believe someone at espn has it in for Tennessee. I don't know why, I just believe it.
No doubt not really anyone there likes us. Of course it started with Fowler and his crap. I hate we have a deal with ESPN now regarding football because we get screwed a lot by these bunch of goons. They are blue blood loving nerds.

Vols get up for the big games. I like the matchup. GBO
I am hoping so. This is a big game for Tennessee not just regarding SEC issues but for NCAA Tourney seeding down the road. If they pull out tonight's game it will be huge.

Yep. Hard to imagine a group effort like that again. It's just not something we usually see from this team. Combine it with a road game @tuscaloosa plus espn's presence and it's pretty clear the deck is stacked. Only thing left is to make sure Pat Adams and/or Teddy V are on the scene as well. Bet Knecht and Aidoo are on the bench with fouls early in this one. Hoping for a respectable score.

While I tend to defer to vegas because they always seem to know, I think that's way too low for this one. This looks a lot like our revenge game vs aTm. At bama, espn in the house and do we even want to know who the refs are? Nah, 3pts is too low here. We're headed into a hornets nest tonight.

Yep, the Game Day crowd will be high & pressurized by game time. This is why it is a must we get off to a great start and silence the crowd. Nothing like being at a alcoholed fever pich and the wind knocked out of your sails, turn them into slobbering drunks. Seriously a good start and how the refs call the game will dictate this game. There have been 3 or 4 games where we've went out to 10 point leads before the first TV timeout need one of those games IMO.

I despise when a defender is standing flat footed with his arms up and the offensive player jumps into the defender, causing the contact, scores a bucket and then get a free throw. It's complete BS.

Palming the ball is never called anymore.
I am not sure what a pivot foot is anymore. Sometimes when a player catches the ball, he will take 2 or 3 steps back. Oh how the game has changed.

I don't ever watch ESPN (or any sports network) other than for games because I got so sick of all the garbage, which is essentially clickbait disguised as 'entertainment' and 'expert analysis'. Not sure why anyone would subject themselves to it, but maybe that's just me. The DVR is one of the greatest inventions of modern mankind - I'd have quit watching sports years ago without it.

Late against Auburn their player pumped, picked up his pivot, scored under the basket and got a phantom foul call as well. When I played that was a travel every time. Not today. The game has very much changed to encourage more scoring.

Go ahead and prepare yourselves. This one will be the toughest game of the season. A win tonight will be one of Barnes’ best wins here at Tennessee IMO.

Officials will be intimidated by the large crowd of drunks and Bama will get any close calls. Don't expect any officiating help for Vols.

Winning this one will take a supreme shooting effort. Refs will not be on our side we should expect some bad calls. A win makes us a number one seed for now.

Winning this game will require a solid defensive game plan. Need to keep Alabama to 80 or less.
