Bama game

Run Alabama off 3 point line. Plus make everyone but Sears and Griffin beat you..

I think his last name is Griffin lol..
Exactly. That’s why I say Tennessee matches up well. We have the defenders at Guard to run them off the 3 point line and the interior defenders to prevent Bama from making us pay for it.

This will be a rough game for sure. We have to use caution with bama guard Sears. He is a great player, but honestly, he gets bailed out by officials more than any player I've ever seen. He consistently drives the paint, out of control, reckless and just hurls the ball up, while driving into the defender. He gets so many foul calls in his favor. Lots of foul shots, he shouldn't get. sorry, just my opinion. I used to referee and it drives me crazy. GO VOLS !!!

We need to guard the three point line and out rebound Alabama on the glass Saturday night to have a chance to win at Coleman Coliseum where we only have 19 wins in series history.

Is holding a player not a foul anymore? I didn’t see it called when they were literally wrapping their arms around Knecht to prevent him from cutting or moving.

The refs definitely did not have their best game last night. The whistles started off extremely late. Like 2-3 seconds after the play. There were phantom fouls that no got touched, and absolute smack downs that were not called. It was equally bad for both teams.

I do think Broome got the benefit of the doubt several times, but so did ZZ on at least two maybe three calls.

There were two that weren't called that my wife asked what is the definition of a foul? SV got tackled and slid 10 feet with no call. An Auburn player got trucked once by Awaka that wasn't called. I was amazed.

Agree, the officiating was awful on both sides. It's hard to claim bias against UT when we shot as many free throws as we did, but there were some heinous calls (and non-calls) that went against us. The phantom ZZ out of bounds call was the ultimate - my wife looked at me and said "how is it even possible to miss that?" I didn't have an answer.

we need to play this game as well as we played at Rupp. DK will be targeted hard and others will need to step up. That's how I see it playing out.

I could see it being better for us if Aidoo scored 30 vs Knecht scoring 40+. Our most glaring advantage is in the paint and if we can consistently feed Aidoo/Awaka then we will likely foul out Nelson and bama has little depth there. Need A&A to be aggressive and efficient tomorrow. Knecht will likely get his 25+ anyway

The refs were "fan watching" Dalton just like everyone else. He got those same calls every time he drove to the basket. Good players get the calls.

Why not both?

Palming is almost never called. Walking has been given a free reign as well. I counted 3 times last night where Auburn clearly walked and there was no call. It’s usually before the initial move is made, but it’s definitely shuffling,
think most of graying hoopsters shares those sentiments';
I temember Dad saying the same thing when we sat together in Stokely

LOl, I love how sports animal radio today is talking about how bama players flop and get calls from the officials every game. something Rick Barnes should definitely address before the game. But then again, we are playing in bama, Espn crew there. the set up is in place. espn hates us. ( I know, I know) I truly believe someone at espn has it in for Tennessee. I don't know why, I just believe it.

The key to the game for the Vols will be the play of Aidoo. They will be denying, double teaming and trying to strip DK so Jonas should have plenty of space inside and needs a double double for a Vol win. JJJ will also need to have a big game. I think they win by cranking up the D and the seniors all get double figures. IF they come out and can't hit ANY shots, like they have done several times on the road, they will get run out of the gym. UT 75 AU 68

At what level did you referee? Just curious, I totally agree. If he only got the calls he deserved, he’d be averaging 15 instead of 20z

I despise when a defender is standing flat footed with his arms up and the offensive player jumps into the defender, causing the contact, scores a bucket and then get a free throw. It's complete BS.

Palming the ball is never called anymore.
Thank Michael Jordan for that. Had it been called correctly against him, I saw somewhere that he’d have had 27,000 more turnovers 😂😂😂😂

Our defensive energy and intensity will have to be high for us to win this game--it was the reason we beat them in KTown--and
let's hope the officials don't call a lot of soft fouls. They should feel pressure more than we do, maybe, but we can't give up 85+ and
expect to win this game. We really need to be dialed in and ready to play....

I feel we have to have some points from JJ, SV & Tobe has to be solid.

Palming the ball is not really a big issue. What is the issue is CARRYING the ball, which you can see a fair number of guards doing these days. The cross-over dribble--used when shifting from moving in one direction (say the right) to the other direction (left)--should mean an initial dribble in the middle of your body as you are changing direction, and then a dribble to the left side of the body moving left. Instead, some guards just carry the ball from right side of their body over to the left side, with no dribble in the middle, which gives them more of an advantage over the defender as they can switch directions more quickly. I doubt officials will start calling unless coaches start complaining about it.

Absolutely. There's no way we're winning this game if we're getting just, say, 8 points combined from Santi and JJJ--unless our defense
is really good.

We held them to 71 points at home and scored 91. That was damn good. I don't see holding them to 71 again--would be nice. In that game DK had 25, Aidoo 19, Santi 10---and we got 23 points combined from Gainey and Mashack! It was Gainey's best game--15 points--and Mashack with 8. Huge. What are the odds of those two scoring 23 combined again? I wouldn't bet on it. James didn't even have a basket in the game--1 point. Awaka played only 5 minutes and didn't score. I think he'll play at least 10 minutes in this game, yes? Gimme a little inside power basketball!
