Bama, Georgia and everyone else.

What a game.

Georgia wins this game by a larger margin in Athens.

We are now seeing the best at this point in the season of GA and Bama, and I haven’t seen a team that can hang with this.

Either way, same ole same ole.

I think this is what we expected,

Albeit, when you consider what we have seen so far, the margin is smaller.

I expect to see more separation between these two from the rest of the pack as well as between the tier 2 teams to create a 5th tier.

I think TX will either join Bama and Georgia, or join some teams in tier 2 that separate themselves from the rest.

As of now, I think you have to put a lot of teams in tier 2.

Tier 1 = Bama, Georgia

Tier 2 = LSU, SC, KY, Ole Miss, Tennessee, TX

Tier 3 = TA&M, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Florida, Vanderbilt, Missouri

Tier 4 = Miss St, Auburn

Tennessee has a heck of a challenge ahead of itself.. I think we have been a little high on ourselves considering the stats we have put up and the competition we have faced so far.

Tennessee has to get a LOT better. I also think this bye week, while early, came at a very good time.

If we stay healthy and get better… who knows? But as of now, it seems we may be a big step away from beating GA or

After the 1st quarter, probably like everyone else, I was left speechless with what Bama has done to GA. Bama won, not taking anything away, but by the time the clock said :00. I was more impressed with GAs ability to fight back and make it a true SEC classic.

By all means, if you are satisfied with the teams we beat as being complete. That’s good for you.

I don’t feel we played a complete team. None worthy of a top 25 and they’ve been mostly low bottom feeders.

I’ll be satisfied saying we are an elite team, as long as we do what needs to be done about Arkansas.

In no way am I saying we aren’t great.
Oh really?

So a “complete team” is worthy of Top 25?

Give an example of a “complete team”.

I'm saying just stating "NCst scored 35 points" is a pretty misleading stat. It is NOT misleading to make the observation Clemson gave up 14 pts in the first 3 quarters where we didn't allow any all game.

The only real reason in citing Clemson in any useful way is that it's likely to stay a quality win for GA. (or at the very least counts as one currently) Since we play AL & GA ourselves stressing over rankings is little more than killing time before those games happen.
Back to the first paragraph, our 4th team and scout team didn’t even let them score

Not entirely sure how that plays to my observation point which is NCst is a bad team and Clemson is probably good enough to end up being considered a decent win for GA. That's really of no particular concern for us. We're going to make our SOS in upcoming games anyway. That's a big advantage for winning SEC teams. Some teams in other conferences can really have to sweat it out if they lose a game and start wondering how they can get some cred back. If we look good enough doing it we could lose to both GA and AL and STILL make the playoffs. That's why it's conceivable GA's beatdown of Clemson might matter as it could be them losing to us and AL trying to get in the playoffs.

I agree that the Clemson win is a better win than us beating NCst. No argument there.

It's funny you bring that up. The Circus catch that 17 year old Ryan Williams made last night, absolutely nobody starting on our roster has demonstrated that level of concentration and athleticism. And yet there Mike Matthews sits on the bench, having barely played. Where the hell is OUR 5 star freshman? I dont think it's because our starters are so much better, I just think our staff has a strong belief in starting upper classmen over freshmen.
This frustrates me as well.

We have guys on the field who make the plays they’re supposed to make, which is much better than what we had out there last year, but we need guys who can turn routine plays into 6.

So if we beat Bama, at what point did we become “tier 1”. If it wasn’t before the game, how did we win?
Nico needs to have the breakout game against real competition we all believe he's capable of. He's shown flashes of it so far, but you can tell the lights have not turned completely on for him yet. When that happens, we'll be Tier 1.

Yes, when we beat the #1 team in the country and historically great program, I would consider us elite. Not sure why that's hard to understand. After our last 20 years, we have to prove it. Like everyone else has.

I hear what y’all are saying. You want to see results against an elite team before deciding how good we are. I’m just saying we are who we are right now. Results don’t make the team better. If we are Tier 1 we’ll handle Arkansas and be competitive with Bama in 2 weeks. If we are not, we won’t. I think we are. If we get our butts kicked, I was wrong.

Vols aren't tier one until they beat Alabama in 3 weeks. It is what it is.
Vols beat Bama in '22. We have a better team in '24. That makes us tier 1. The only thing that might knock us out of tier 1 is if we lose an offensive tackle or our center. TX is tier 1 as well. Putting SC and UK in tier 2 is laughable.

In the case of Milton, it wasnt just that he was a senior, he had the locker room. With the QB position, you can't disrupt the culture and the team was clearly behind Milton. If you attempt to disrupt that, you get a 2005 situation.
I agree with you on that. Milton was and is a very likeable guy

Still think it's Bama, Georgia, and everyone else?

This is why you shouldn't overreact to one game.

I knew people would go back to this. Rightfully so. Hard to say, but yes, I still think that Bama and Georgia will be the top teams in the SEC, and by a considerable margin over most when it’s all said and done and like I said by a lesser margin than usual (from the bulk of the next tier). Vanderbilt played lights out. They lose that game 9 times out of 10 IMO, and I still think Bama and Georgia win out So, could be you that is overreacting to this win. Remember, Bama also just beat Georgia who is the second best team in the conference if not the best. (I think Georgia wins by more if that game is played in Athens).

More importantly, we on the other hand have serious issues at secondary (as usual) and OL. Our OL is the worst we have seen under the Heupel era. I think KY, Bama, Georgia and Vanderbilt all have a really good chance of beating us. Mississippi State and Florida being the least likely to beat us.

I could be wrong, but again the Vandy and Bama game is only one game ;)

Georgia might still be elite but Bama is losing 3 games this year. They're not elite anymore. They're a normal good program once again.
