prior to tonight Bama was committing 6.86 penalties per game. They was ranked #96 in FBS for fewest penalties committed and also have committed 48 penalties prior to tonight.

And we are supposed to believe that Bama fixed all its issues over the past 6 days to only commit 1 penalty tonight? Yea bull$$hit!!

When did this become legal and ok without a flag thrown?
It did not help that the play calling seem to go conservative after going up 20-7, but it sure as hell did not help that Bama had 6 drives extended due to penalties instead of punting the ball.

The officiating schedule should come from the NCAA. Maybe when the conference’s expand and the conferences pretty much go away, the officials need to be assigned to games like they are in the playoffs. These games are way too important with a 4 game playoff for them to decided by officials that are clearly favoring Bama and coming for the office that’s an hour away.

Great post, man! Thanks for the data. This could follow a Poisson distribution, if it doesn't violate the assumptions of a Poisson.
If the true average number of Bama penalties per game is 6.86, then the probability of randomly getting exactly one penalty is 0.007 or 7 in 1000 games. Pretty rate, so it's hard to expect this to happen randomly.
Someone check my calculations, because I am shook hands with George Dickel many times tonight.

You’re like a teenage girl. Upset and not being objective. “Daddy didn’t do what I wanted so he’s not serious.” This was all on the refs. Heupel made a bone headed call but that didn’t cost us the game. Sit down.
Comical.
The refs are part of the program; foolish to throng the UT AD isn’t part of the program too.
Sit down.. that is comical too..

Wasn't that bad. We was out coached the second half. Please quit with the whining
Are you serious? Bama averages almost 7 penalties a game prior to tonight and all of sudden 1.
We also beat Bama in almost every statistical category on offense and yet still lose. Yes I agree about the coaching in the 2nd half. But coaching has nothing to do with 6 drives being extended for Bama by penalties. The refs tired cheating the Vols in the 1st half but we played so well we was able to over come it. 2nd half refs stepped up there game and we wasn’t able to over come it.

Even the announcers was shocked at some of the calls being made and even admitted some of these penalties where ticky tac calls and maybe even questionable. I knew we was in for it when the refs called Milton short on a play where the entire team was past the line 2 yards. Milton entire Boyd falls 2 yards beyond the line and the ref moves the ball back and call 4th and 1. It took the office in Birmingham to change an obvious call. Yes it went our way, but it shouldn’t have had to be reviewed. It was clear right then what the refs on the field was doing. I couldn’t at least 2 PI’s and 3 holds that did not get called tonight and was clear as day. Hell we even had a D-lineman get grabbed by the facemask, get turned around on a pass rush and yet did not get the flagged. We all know Bama committed more than 1 penalty for 5 yards, it jsut wasn’t called

The refs can call any play against the Vols (wrong) & get away with it! Heupel has to speak up against the refs, just like any other coach would.! Really, Bama gets 1 5 yrd penalty with all that jersey grabbing!

At minimum Bama should have had 2 penalties for 15 yards if this one isn’t missed.

We just suck on the road.. Wrs have stone hands other than White and they quit throwing his way..
I know this, and it doesn’t help when calls are clearly being called 1 way. The refs on the field tried everything in their power to not let us get first down when Milton was 2 yards passed the line of scrimmage. The ref then picks ball up and walks it back 3 yards for a 4th and 1 play. Lucky for us officials wanted to review it. And what do you know, field officials suck. It wasn’t like that one play was even close, it was obvious and yet the refs tried to interfere with it

Burton should have gotten a personal foul or unsportsmanlike like conduct penalty when he kicked our player. I couldn’t believe that wasn’t called.
Don’t forget he kicked him with both feet at same time and ref was standing in the end zone looking at him when he done it.

I realize im the millionth person with this thought but I’ve watched college football for decades and I can honestly say there’s a conspiracy against UT! For the last 15 years I’ve tried to blame bad coaching hires and talent levels and all that cat shi#! It’s time for fans (Because it isn’t just UT) to speak up and demand answers! This ridiculous notion of submitting obvious plays to the SEC office is outdated! Idc if anyone responds but it’s getting out of hand and wrecking football! It’s a ***$&@g sport that has been damaged by the powers that be!
