UT (4-3) Remaining Schedule:
10.26 @Alabama (7-0)
11.02 @Missouri (7-0)
11.09 vsAuburn (6-1)
11.23 vsVanderbilt (4-3)
11.30 @Kentucky (1-5)
ALABAMA: With quality wins against Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss, no one is questioning Alabama as the favorite to win the SEC. The lowest scoring game for the Tide this year was 25 against Ole Miss, who was shutout. The closest game this year was a 49-42 win over the Aggies in September. Other than that game, Alabama has handled every team easily thus far, averaging 40.7 ppg (17th) and holding their opponents to just 9.7 ppg (1st). The Alabama offense has been rolling with QB AJ McCarron (126/182, 1587yds, 14tds/3int) and RB TJ Yeldon (100/657, 7TDS) doing most of the work.
THOUGHTS ON THE GAME: I think we have no shot of winning a high score game against this team. Worley is playing better but he aint Johnny Football. Our defense is going to have to step up. Ole Miss held McCarron to 180 yards and no TDs to 1 interception. The problem was both Yeldon and Drake put up big numbers on the ground (121 % 99 yards, 1 td each). Comparing out defense to Ole Miss, there is no reason we cannot hold McCarron to a similar game and keep Yeldon and Drake from putting up massive numbers. The Ole Miss defense has allowed 27.3 ppg to our 27.0 ppg. We have held every team but Florida and Oregon below their average PPG. The Ole Miss defense (vs Tennessee) has allowed 212.3 (240.8) passing ypg and 186.7 (175.7) rushing ypg. Our offense is clicking, and North and Neal are emerging as stars.
If you look at our adjusted averages by defense, then Alabama would score 37 points on us, and we would score 13points. Interestingly, if you adjust based on our offensive averages, we score 14 points and Alabama score 39. In short, I agree that 26points is slightly too much. Im guessing we score 10-17 and Bama puts up 35-42 on us.
